Preston Nunn

NUNN, Mr. Preston E. - Age 76, departed this life on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Friday, March 10, 2006 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Bishop Fred Lewis, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Friday. Mr. Nunn will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mr. Preston E. Nunn was born on May 29, 1929 in Wheatley, AR, the son of Richard and Arie Anna Nunn. He was an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Preston was a graduate of the V.E.T.S Electronic Technical School. He retired with 38 years of service from Buick, a division of General Motors Corporation, and was a member of UAW Local 599. Mr. Preston E. Nunn leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife, Luverne of Flint; 3 daughters, Cassandra (Harold) Hayden, Jr. of Flint; Gwendolyn (Jeffrey) Yancey of Columbia, TN; Bridgette Nunn Memphis, TN; 5 sons, Terry (Lisa), Marc (Yolanda), Timothy (Colette), Derrick (Pamela) Nunn, all of Flint, Rodney (Brenda) Nunn of Kalamazoo, MI; 28 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Millie Cantrell, Lurlean Davis, and Jessie Digby, all of Chicago, IL; 5 sisters-in-law, including Hazel (Leon) Worsham and Thelma L. Donald; 4 brothers-in-law, including James Donald; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Mr. Preston E. Nunn was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Arie Anna Nunn, brother, Maiseao Nunn; sister, Melonee Dukes; mother of his children, Hattie Tolbert-Nunn; grandchildren, Preston E. Nunn II and Tianna Nunn; brother-in-law, Quilla Cantrell; special relatives, Girlie Gray, Sam P., Hazel Tolbert, James Davis, McCoy Digby and Herbert L. Donald. The family wishes to express special thanks to the Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. Family, the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Family, Chester and Evelyn Weathers and the staff of Hurley Medical Center.
