Mother Pinkie Belle Turner Stephens

TURNER STEPHENS, Mother Pinkie B. - Age 98, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, February 2, 2026, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W, Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Brian Grundy, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Monday. Mother Turner Stephens will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday with family present from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM to receive friends. Mother Pinkie Belle Turner Stephens was born August 11, 1927, in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Mayona Southerland and Foster Roper. Pinkie was a resident of Swartz Creek, Michigan and attended Flint Central High School. She was a renowned musician and had a unique sound on the Hammond B-3 Organ. Pinkie was gifted by God at the tender age of three years old to play the piano for her mother’s church. As she grew older, she became the requested musician for many churches in Flint, Michigan she played at St. James Church of God In Christ, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, New Bethel Church Of God In Christ under the leadership Supt Cludges Hill, and Bibleway Church Of God In Christ under Supt. A.C. Lee. Mother Pinkie moved to Texas in 1990 with her husband, musician and trumpet player, Elder Henry Stephens and there in Texas she was musician for Bishop J. Neaul Haynes at Saintsville Church Of God In Christ and started a Sixty Plus Choir. After 19 years she and her husband returned to Flint she attended Jackson Memorial Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop H.J. Williams. Mother Pinkie spent eight faithful years as musician, spiritual mother for New Bethel COGIC she loved designing clothes, hats, purses and shoes. Mother Pinkie had approximately over twenty foster children. Mother Pinkie Belle Turner Stephens leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Hiawatha (Denise) Turner, Phillip (Isabel) Turner, and Rene Turner (Jens Riepe); son-in-law, Marvin Raglon; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; adna host of other relatives and friends. Mother Stephens was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Stephens; 3 children, Leonard Turner, Sr., Barbara Ann Raglon and Kenneth Turner; parents, Mayona and Foster Roper; sister, Ida Mae. The Family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Hospice Nurses, Supt. Pastor Brian D. Grundy and Greater New Bethel Church Of God In Christ, Bishop Roger L.
