WILLINGHAM, Mr. Philip - Age 74, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Sorrento, Care Center in Detroit, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing, Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mr. Willingham will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Philip Willingham was born on January 16, 1936 in Emella, Alabama, the son of Bryant and Rebecca Willingham. Philip was a resident of Flint. He graduated from Livingston High School in Livingston, Alabama. Philip was employed with General Motors for 10 years. He also was self-employed as an Asphalt Specialist. Philip loved working on his dump trucks tinkering with them all night and being around his family and friends. He spoke good about all of his children and loved spending time with Aretha and Rebecca, taking them shopping and watching them have fun. Phil was a very soft spoken man and he enjoyed life. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Sheila (Pitts) Willingham of Flint; 3 daughters, Carmen (William) Cooper, Aretha Pitts and Rebecca Willingham; 2 sins, Vincent Hale and Phillip (Alicia) Willingham, Jr. of California; 2 grandchildren, William “Greg” Cooper, Jr. and Philicia Willingham; mother, Rebecca Willingham; 3 sisters, Hollie (Michael) Shumpert, Karon (Theo) Moore and Dollen (Freddie) Roberts; 4 brothers, Leon, Eddie, Freddie and Frank Willingham, all of Flint; 3 sisters-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Fluellen, Evelyn and Melinda Pitts; 4 brothers-in-law, Hubert (Cora) Pitts, Charlie (Mavis) Pitts, Arthur and Samuel Pitts; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Gus Clayton, Mr. Doug and Mr. Beasley. Mr. Willingham was preceded in death by his father, Bryant Willingham; stepson, Alva Allen; and brother, Edgar. The family would like to express special thanks to Sorrento Care Center, Home Hospice Advantage, Family Optional, Nurse Annie Stevenson, Cena-Deborah Craig, Linette Reid, Claudetta Price, Pastor F.O. Hockenhull and the First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church family.
