Mr. Philip Craig Atkinson

ATKINSON, Mr. Philip Craig - Age 64, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024, at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Atkinson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, September 6, 2024. Mr. Philip Atkinson was born February 4, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Damos and Watella Atkinson. Philip was a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Fairview Elementary, Emerson Jr. High and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School. Philip was employed at the Flint Golf Course for over 25 years and Genesee County Health Department where he worked in the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bike riding, yard work and listening to music. Philip loved people and made everyone laugh that was around. He was very outspoken. Philip’s favorite football team was the Detroit Lions. Mr. Philip Atkinson leaves to cherish his memories: 2 daughters, Shamica Marshall and Taisha Barnett; 2 sons, Cameron Bradley and Demario Atkinson; 2 grandchildren, Bi’Onnie Marshall and Joyce Ann Corbin, all of Flint; 4 great-grandchildren, Amerion, Julian, A’merie and Deondris; 2 sisters, Mercedes Atkins and Tammy (Tim) Peacock; 5 nieces, Tracy Atkinson, Tawana (Michael) Polk, Tonya Atkins, Alicia Crader and Asia Jourdan; 5 nephews, Terry Atkinson, Twan (Jamelia) Nash, Javarrious Jourdan, Marcell Simmons and Cameron Simmons, all of Flint; cousins, Joan Lewis of Macon, GA, Narotha Odgen, Yvonee McDougal, Robert Wilson and Grand Rapids, MI and Nona Adams of Cincinnati, OH; a host of other relatives and friends including, the New Orleans family and the Wofford family in Flint, special friends, Rick Ball, Tate, Lewis Johnson and Terry Brazile. Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his parents, Damos and Watella Atkinson; sister, Victoria Nash; nephews, Eric Paxton and Baby Tyler Atkins, Fantrese Wilson, Gwendolyn Suluki, Idella Joseph, Rose Mary Atkins, Aaron Wilson, Antione Aaron, Susis Atkins, Falita Ogden, Brent Wofford, Myra Washington, Dawn Peterson, Wilbur Aaron and Hardy Aaron. The family would like to express special thanks to Flushing Police Department, Dewey Park family, Pastor Chad Galloway and Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church family and the Lawrence E.
