Mrs. Penrose Adele Bankston

BANKSTON, Mrs. Penrose Adele - Age 84, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Cottages of Davison. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Word of Life Christian Church, 460 W. Atherton Rd., with funeral services commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor George Wilkinson, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and family will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Bankston will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday with family present from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM to receive friends. Penrose Adele Holliday Bankston was born February 15, 1940 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Moses Hale and Margaret Adele (Jeffries) Holliday. Penrose was a resident of Flint and graduated from Flint Central High School. She was employed at General Motors Corporation where she retired after 34 years of service. Penrose loved cooking, baking, sewing, drawing and painting. She also loved participating in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), traveling, spending time with her children, Wendy, Traci and Darren, her step-daughter, Lisa and her grandson, Anthony Bankston. Penrose was vibrant, energetic and very loving. She loved feeding everyone. Penrose would make large portions of food so that all of the children in the neighborhood who came over could eat. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister and friend who will be forever missed. Penrose Adele Bankston leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Billie John Bankston; son, Darren John Dantzler, both of Flint; 2 daughters, Dr. Traci Jill Dantzler of Lansing, MI and Wendy Joy Dantzler of Troy, MI; grandson, Anthony Bankston; 2 sisters, Mrs. Jill L. (Raymond) Gist of Grand Blanc, MI and Lorraine J. Edwards of Flint; 2 brothers, Michael J. Holliday of Oakland, CA and Gregory J. Holliday of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Donald and Barbara (Lester) Carson; 2 brothers-in-law, Ralph Bankston and Noel Bankston; a host of other relatives and friends. Penrose was preceded in death by her father, Moses Hale Holliday; mother, Margaret Adele Holliday; and 3 brothers, Carl H. Holliday, Drew E. Holliday and Gary S. Holliday; and step-daughter, Eliza Bankston. The family would like to express special thanks to The Cottage of Davison, Dr. Rose Hall and Dr. Mischa Pollard.
