Mrs. Pearlie Beatrice Jones

JONES, Mrs. Pearlie Beatrice - age 79, departed this life to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Mrs. Pearlie Jones was retiree from Hurley Medical Center after 28 years of service. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Civic Heights Church Church Of God In Christ, 3610 Wisner St. with funeral service commencing at 12 Noon. Supt. Samuel Marsh officiating. Mrs. Jones will later be taken to: St. Hill Cemetery, Newton, MS., 103 New Ireland St, Newton, MS 39345 (601) 683-4722. Interment St. Hill Cemetery, Newton, MS. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Jones now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 Noon-8 p.m. today, with the family present from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Mother Pearlie Beatrice Jones was born January 19, 1936 in Pineville, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Mr. John Blade Jr. and Mrs. Flora Lee Blade. Mother Pearlie Jones accepted Christ at an early age at Antioch C.O.G.I.C, under the leadership of the late Superintendent Burley LeFleur in Pineville, LA. She moved to Michigan with her family in the early 60’s where she then met the love of her life; Mr. Leon Jones. The two were married February 17, 1968. To this union 3 children were born. They later united at Civic Heights, C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Superintendent Samuel Marsh. Mother Jones was employed by Hurley Medical Center for almost 30 years. Working in the Nutritional Service Department. She was an amazing woman. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, cross word puzzles, watching her game shows, and most of all spending quality time with her family. Mother Jones was known as the comedian of the family and she didn’t mind speaking her mind. She was the glue that held the family together, and she was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Her legacy will live on forever and she will be missed tremendously. Pearlie leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 47 years, Mr. Leon Jones; a loving daughter, Coretta (Ollie) Whitmore; dedicated sons, Eric and Roderic Jones all of Mt.Morris, MI; grandchildren, Olivia Simone Whitmore, Chirstopher Davon Whitmore both of Mt. Morris, MI, and Tyler Presswood of Birmingham, AL; sisters, Margaret (Bennie) Williams and Shirley Ray Marsh both of Mt. Morris, MI, Betty Chapman of Flint, MI, Mary Cox of Swartz Creek, MI, and Norma Blade of Stone Mountain, GA; brothers, Bobby (Denise) Blade of Mt. Morris, MI, Johnnie Blade of Flint, MI, and Ronald (Vernice) Blade of Los Angeles, CA; god-daughters, Taara Booker of Phoenix, AZ; great-niece, Nina Young-Davis of Macomb, MI; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mother Jones was preceded in death by: parents, the late John Blade Jr. and Flora Lee Blade; sister, Dorothy Dogans; and niece, Belinda Williams. The family would like to express special thanks to all of the Doctors and nurses at University Hospital in Jackson, MS, all of our family and friends for all of your visits, phones calls, and the countless acts of kindness.
