YOUNG, Ms. Pauline Virginia - Age 92, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 in Queens, New York. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 2, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Dr. Avery E. Brown, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Saturday. Ms. Young will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public viewing will be during family hour only. Pauline Virginia a women of grace, wit and unshakable strength who lived a life that was nothing short of being extraordinary. Born in the quaint town of Abingdon, Virginia on August 17,1932. Pauline’s presence could light up a room, and her laughter was a melody that warmed the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was not just at sister; she was a best friend, a confidante, a traveler, and a fearless advocate for those she loved. From a young age, Pauline was destined for greatness. She graduated from Douglass High School, Bristol, Virginia in 1950, paving the way for a remarkable career at the New York Telephone Company, where she climbed the ranks to become a respected supervisor. Her sharp mind and natural leadership earned her admiration from all who worked with her. Pauline retired in 1991, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and integrity that few could rival. Pauline didn’t just work hard, she made every moment count. A fierce advocate for her neighbors, she organized tenant meetings in her apartment building’s lobby, rallying for better conditions and rent adjustments. Her voice was one of reason and resolve, and when she spoke, people listened. She would say “Do you hear the words that come out of my mouth?’, knowing that her words carried power. But Pauline’s influence extended far beyond her building. Pauline was a master shopper, with an eye for quality and an instinct for finding treasures in every corner. Known for her impeccable style, she was always dressed to impressed. Whether it was buying the finest clothes for her beloved son Rodney or finding the perfect bargain in every store aisle. Her elegance and sophistication were unmatched, but so was her ability to make everyone feel special. She loved her family fiercely, her grandson Akil and Omar Sr. With pride and joy her great-granddaughter Jordyn and Omar Jr. filled her life with happiness. Pauline had an infectious zest for life, and adventure was her middle name. Whether she was traveling with her sisters or laughing with friends, she made memories that will last forever. She would say with a smile “Don’t tell me, I can read, because I am a reader”. She was always the sharpest mind in the room. Pauline lived by her own rules, she often joked, “Take the elevator because I helped pay for it.” a reminder that she had a hand at making things better. She was the family scribe, writing letters for those who couldn’t, her words carrying the love and care she that she felt for them. Her sharp intellect, matched only by her quick wit, made her a force to be reckoned with. She lived by the principle of speaking her truth, and she encouraged others to do the same; “Speak up. Don’t be afraid to say what you mean.” And in a world that often quiets voices like hers, Pauline roared with elegance. Pauline’s life was rich with love, laughter an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. She was preceded in death by her father Isaac Sr., mother Lucille; brothers Isaac Jr., George, and sister, Anna (Young) Swift. Though she has left this world she lives in the hearts of those she touched, her Sisters Mary (Young) Horton, Shirley (Young) Brown, Ada Young, grandsons Akil Young, Omar Young, Sr., two great-grand children, Jordyn and Omar Young, Jr. Pauline was treasured by a host of nieces and nephews, especially her special cousins Eugene Brown, James Young and a special niece Priscilla Swift. Pauline’s spirit was a gift to the world, and her memory will forever inspire those blessed to have known her. Her legacy is one of love, strength, and grace. She leaves behind not just memories, but a blueprint for living life with a purpose, passion, and style. Her vibrant spirit, dazzling smile, and unshakeable determination will be honored with joy and gratitude.
