TOLBERT, Mr. Paul Joseph - Age 68, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C., 4317 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, MI., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Supt. Eric Bogan Host Pastor, Supt. Anthony Tolbert officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mr. Tolbert will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday. Mr. Paul Joseph Tolbert was born June 11, 1949 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Lewis and Curley Tolbert. He was a resident of Burton, MI and a member of Glad Tidings Church Of God In Christ. Paul graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1967” where he played basketball and football. He also attended Detroit College of Business where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree and Central Michigan University where he obtained a Master of Science Degree. Paul retired as a Plant Manager of General Motors-Service Parts Operations (SPO), Waterford, MI in 2008. He enjoyed playing basketball, football, watching sports, fishing and photography. Mr. Paul Joseph Tolbert leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Gwendolyn Tolbert of Burton, MI; daughter, Shaneé Tolbert; son, Jamal Tolbert; 5 grandchildren, Jaden Evans, Ayanna Tolbert, Jamal Tolbert, Paul Tolbert and Ty’Shawna Tolbert, all of Flint; 4 sisters, Evangelist Darlene Tolbert of Mesquite, TX, Daisy (Micheal) Malcom of Garland, TX, Algene Tolbert of Cedar Hill, TX and Gwendolyn (Reginald) Grace of Forney, TX; 5 brothers, Steve (Earlene) Tolbert, Eugene (Shirley) Tolbert, all of Flint, Supt. Anthony (Evangelist Ruthie) Tolbert of Mt. Morris, MI, Lewis Tolbert Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and Hershall (Jackie) Tolbert of Alexandria, VA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; mother-in-law, Lula Spencer; sisters-in-law, Delma Richardson, Sheila (Rev. Brian) Anderson, Natalie (James) Shorts, Yvonne (Micheal) Wise and Tanya Spencer; brothers-in-law, Rod (Leona) Green, Carlos (Regina) Hicks, Rocky Spencer and Frederick (Anita) Spencer; a host of other relatives including, Janean Norfleet; a host of good friends including special friend, Paul Canada. Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by his parents, Superintendent Lewis and Mother Curley Tolbert; brothers, Walter Tolbert and George Tolbert; father-in-law, David S. Spencer; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Tolbert, Glorious Tolbert and Christine Tolbert; and brother-in-law, David S. Spencer Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to cousin, T.T. we personally thank you, cousin, Amenia Odom and the Harris Memorial Church Of God In Christ family.
