GARRETT, Rev. Paul, Jr. - Age 36, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church 5859 Michigan Rd.,(or M-99) with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Rev. Paul W. Garrett, Sr., officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Rev. Garrett, Jr. will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Paul was born July 28, 1970 in Lansing, Michigan to Paul Sr. and Ruth Garrett. Paul grew up in Lansing, Michigan and attended Eastern High School in Lansing, Michigan before moving to Flint, Michigan. Paul gave his life to the Lord at a young age and was a dedicated member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lansing, MI for over 20 years where he served as a minister following under the leadership of his father Rev. Paul W. Garrett, Sr. Paul enjoyed working as a salesman. He was employed at Patsy Lou Williamson Pontiac where he did what he enjoyed most selling cars. Paul was a very talented man that enjoyed singing the gospel, playing drums, and the guitar. He was very athletic and his favorite hobby was playing basketball and coaching. He loved the game so much he played year round in local church leagues, tournaments, and field house or just playing outside in the summer. Paul made friends wherever he went and was loved by a lot of people. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Regina Garrett; children, Teria Burton, Brandi, Brook, Brayla, Paul Jr. III, Cameron, Kira, and Kiana Garrett, Ashley, Shayonna and Dequan Roberts; grandson, Cayden Marcus Bell; parents, Ruth and Paul W. Garrett, Sr.; 2 sisters, Paula Garrett-Ellis and Monica Webster-Garrett; 2 brothers, Don (Lisa) Garrett, Ladontaye Garrett and the Mt. Olive Church Family (Dimondale, MI); mother-in-law, Louise Evans; brother-in-law, Brenson (Alicia) Evans; sisters-in-law, Arnita Evans and Tina Kemp; a host of aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Garrett; grandparents, L.C. Garrett, Linnie Franklin and E.P. Franklin; father-in-law, Ezell Evans. The family would like to thank Genesys Regional Medical Center staff, pastors and churches of Lansing, MI, Pastor Freddie Filmore of Florida, The (PTT), relatives and friends for your prayers, thoughts, visits and phone calls during our time of bereavement.
