BROWN, Ms. Ozie Lee - Age 80, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at Genesys Health Park-Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2019 from Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 106 E. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Edward L. Smith, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM. Ms. Brown will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM with the family present from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM to receive friends. Ms. Ozie Lee Brown was born August 22, 1938 in Waxahachie, Texas, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph and Ella Johnson. She graduated from J.J. Rhoads High School in Childress, TX where she played basketball (she loved it), ran track and sang in the school choir. Ozie also was a Broadcaster from the radio station in Childress. She married Merry Brown Jr. in 1959 and they later relocated to Flint Michigan. She was a loyal and faithful member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Edward L. Smith, where she was the President of the Choir. Ozie retired from St. Joseph Hospital and was a Foster Care Provider for Ennis Association for 25+ years. She loved to fellowship with her church family in addition to having a love for singing, cooking, sewing, traveling and driving. Ms. Ozie Lee Brown leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Carmen Brown of Burton, MI, Dorita Brown of West Bloomfield, MI and Connie Brown of Brisbane, Australia; 3 sons, Ricky Brown, Keith Brown, both of Flint and Kerry Brown of Columbia, TN; 5 grandchildren, Courtney (ReKeya) Foster, Shaquanda Aguilar, Kewon Brown, Trinitee Walker and Samuel Rogers; 7 great-grandchildren, Coriana Foster, Kasdeshay Foster, Davarion Strange, Uzziah Foster, Isaiah Mitchell, Dequavious Mitchell and Markeya Mitchell; sister, Linda Louise (Gene) Ford of Oklahoma City, OK; a host of nieces including special niece, Patricia Johnson; a host of nephews including special nephews, Jarvis Johnson and Berry Johnson; a host of cousins including special cousins, Rondra Buggs-Lewis and Vondra (Thomas) Buggs-Sales; a host of other relatives and friends including, special sisters in Christ, Betty Johnson, Lucy White and Juliette Holder; god-daughters, Regina and Renita Massey, and Alisha “Lee Lee” Reed. Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shamille Johnson; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph and Ella Johnson; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank and Febbie Lindsey; sister, Ophelia Holmes; brothers, E.J. Johnson, Felix Johnson and Curtis Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Ascension Genesys ICU staff, Dr. B. Sayal, Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church family, Dr. Sahni, the Avery family, hair stylist, Mrs. Yvonne Powell (hair stylist), William Knox and the entire MPS Group.
