SIMPSON, Mr. Ozell "Boe" - age 74, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Reginald G. Flynn officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Simpson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. After which, Mr. Simpson will be shipped to Kings Funeral Home, 1511 W. California Ave., Ruston, LA (318) 255-0525. Mr. Ozell “Boe” Simpson was born June 4, 1939 in Dubach, Louisiana, the son of Willie and Viola (Lewis) Simpson. He later came to Flint in 1966 and joined the Foss Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Simpson was a resident of Flint, MI for 49 years, he accepted Christ at an early age at Greater Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Dubach, LA. Mr. Simpson was a Skilled Tradesman at Chevrolet Manufacturing for 35 years and was a member of UAW Local #659. He was an avid fisherman and loved working in his garden. Mr. Ozell “Boe” Simpson leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 52 years, Shearlean (Gray) Simpson; 2 daughters, Valerie (Isaac) Jacobs, and Barbara (Dion) Savage both of Flint, MI; 2 sons, Eric Simpson of Milan, MI, and Antwan Simpson of Atlanta, GA; 9 grandchildren, Laquisha, Julius, Dion, Lynn, Dionta, Jaleel, Ivory, Emmanuel and Miriah; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Willie Bell Jackson of Grambling, LA, Ola June Lifford of Flint, twin sister, Odell Anderson of Muskegon, MI; brother, Leroy Simpson of Ruston, LA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Runnell and Daisy Lays, Richard and Alice Harris, Terry Barber and Sonny Wilkes. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his parents; Willie and Viola Simpson; daughter, Peggy Waller; 5 brothers, Luther, Louis, Ezell, John Dave and Charles Dave; 3 sisters, Katie Mae, Ora Mae, and Cora Mae. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Dr. Reginald G. Flynn and the Foss Avenue Baptist Church family, the McLaren Hospital staff and Residential Home Health and Grace Hospice.
