Rev. Otha James Hill

HILL, Rev. Otha James - Age 62, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Antioch Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd., Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Thursday. Rev. Hill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Rev. Otha James Hill was born March 3, 1961, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Rev Willie and Sammie Hill. Otha graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1979.” He then attended American Baptist Theological Seminary in Tennessee. Otha was called and accepted his calling into the ministry under the late Pastor Lewis Randolph at the age of 16. He enjoyed preaching, teaching, and visiting the sick & shut-ins. Otha went to the jails and homeless shelters spreading the word about how good God is. He loved reading, studying the word and spending time with his family was very important to him. Otha always reminded his brothers and sisters he was the oldest and the big brother. Rev. Otha James Hill leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sisters, Chandra Yates and Janice Hill, both of Flint; 2 brothers, Steven (Paulina) Hill Sr. of Moncks Corner, SC and Rev. Jerry Hill; 3 nieces, Channetta Yates of Flint, Kenya McCaskill and Latoya Minnifeld, both of Moncks Corner, SC; 2 nephews, Deantoine Walker of Columbia, TN and Steven Hill Jr. of Moncks Corner, SC; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Rev. Orlando Goodman of Flint, Rev. T. Alexander Knapp of Shreveport, LA; god-sister, Kathy Peck Warfield of Columbus, OH. Rev. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, Rev Willie and Sammie Hill; grandparents, Steve and Marlissa Hill, Sam and Reba Silas; 7 uncles; 4 aunts; numerous cousins and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to Lena and Valerie Marshall, Mary and Kathy Johnson family, Hurley Medical Center Care Coordination Department, Velma Rosborough; Rev. Christopher Taylor and Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family; and Mr. Lawrence E. Moon.
