ROBERTS, Dr. Orlando - Age 63, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 6-7:30PM Tuesday, June 7, 2005 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Induction into the Omega Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at 7PM. Funeral service 11AM Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Foss Ave. Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Ave., Pastor Derrick Aldridge officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 11AM Wednesday. Dr. Roberts will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Dr. Orlando Roberts was born in Flint, MI on September 13, 1941, the son of Orlander and Velma Roberts. He attended Flint Public Schools graduating with honors from Flint Northern High School in 1959. He earned his B.S. and D.D.S. degrees from the University of Michigan. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain. In 1970, he returned to Flint and established a private dental practice, presently located in the Valley Dental Center on Lennon Rd. Dr. Roberts was a devoted member of Foss Ave. Baptist Church where he sang baritone in the Men's Chorus. He was Chair of the Economic Development Committee at Foss Ave. Baptist Church. He was on the Flint Public Library Board, and a past Vice-President of the Mass Transportation Authority. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and all types of music. Family, friends, colleagues, and patients throughout the community will sorely miss his presence. He leaves to cherish his memory: 1 son, Byron (Marnise Limbrick-) Roberts; 3 grandchildren, Winston Wade, Shelbey Simone and Greer Gabrielle, all of Canton, MI; parents, Orlander and Velma (Billings) Roberts of Flint; 2 sisters, Marlene Yvonne (Mel) Eubanks of Maplewook, NJ and Beverly June Henry of Flint; two brothers, Russell Roberts-Bey and Lawrence of Flint; 1 aunt, Ora Wilson of Flint; 8 nieces and nephews, Nelson Eubanks, Cheryl Henry, Brian Henry, Mark Henry, Jeanette Henry-Sterling, Wesley Roberts-Bey, David Roberts and Jamil Roberts; 8 great-nieces and nephews; special friend Sanjeanetta Harris of New York City, and a host of Roberts and Billings cousins. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Tom Belford, Jr., Mabel McGowan, and other members of the Wednesday afternoon Golf League for their exceptional effort, assistance and consolation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Flint Public Library, 1026 E. Kearsley St., attention: Director.
