Mrs. Ora Mae Simpson-Gray

SIMPSON-GRAY, Mrs. Ora Mae - Age 82, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles E. Roots officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Gray will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Ora Mae Simpson-Gray was born July 6, 1931 in Dubach, Louisiana; the daughter of Willie and Viola Simpson. Mrs. Simpson-Gray was a resident of Flint for 57 years. She was also a member of Canaan Baptist Church, since 1962, where she sang with the Voices of Canaan and served with the Deaconess Ministry. Mrs. Simpson-Gray attended Lincoln High School. She was employed at Flint Osteopathic Hospital and retired after many years of service. Mrs. Simpson-Gray loved to fish, sew, shop and spend time with her family. Mrs. Ora Mae Simpson-Gray leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Deacon West H. Gray of Flint; 2 sons, Deacon John W. (Doris) Gray and Charlie L. Gray, both of Flint; grandchildren, Demark Pointer of Flint, Charlene Gray and Charlie Gray, both of Pontiac, MI, Steven (Rachel) Phillips of Wichita, KS, Carlos M. Gray of Sterling Heights, MI, Tanesha Outland of Flushing, MI, Sharieka Searcy and Tevya Jones; great-grandchildren, Aliyah Phillips, Sophie Phillips, Joshua Phillips, Kayla Pointer, Donovan Pointer and Kiki Brown; 3 sisters, Williebell Jackson of Grambling, LA, Ola June Lipford of Flint, MI and Odell Anderson of Muskegon, MI; 2 brothers, Ozell (Sherlean) Simpson of Mt. Morris, MI and Leroy Simpson of Ruston, LA; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including, special friends, Mrs. Mabelle Robinson, Mrs. Mary Deloach and Mrs. Ola Cummings. Mrs. Simpson-Gray was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Viola (Lewis) Simpson; daughter, Virginia Gray; 2 sisters, Katie Anderson, Cora Lee Simpson-Hurt; 5 brothers, Luther, Ezell, John Dave, Charles, and Lewis Simpson.
