Mrs. Onie Jean Wynne

WYNNE, Mrs. Onie Jean - Age 83, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center. Family Hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Alfonso Williams, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Wynne will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday, with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs. Onie Jean Wynne was born on July 9, 1941 in Gallatin, Tennessee, the daughter of Roosevelt and Ruby Flippen. Onie embrace Christ at a young age. Upon graduating from Union High School, she moved to Flint, Michigan where she attended Mott Community College. Following two years there, Onie transferred to Western Michigan University, earning a Bachelor Degree in Education. Her teaching journey began at Mandeville Jr. High School as a Home Economics Teacher and continued at Carmen Ainsworth Middle and High School until her retirement. On December 15, 1962, she married Roger E. “Sonny” Wynne Sr. and together they raised two children, Crystal and Roger Jr. Her husband, children, grandchildren and family brought her great joy. Onie’s hobbies included crafting, sewing, shopping, exploring history, keeping up with current affairs, and enjoying time with family and friends. Mrs. Onie Jean Wynne is survived by: daughter, Crystal of Flint; son, Roger Jr. (LaTonya); grandchildren, Morgan and Maxwell, all of Murfreesboro, TN and Ananda of Flint; sister, Thelma Buford; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Flippen, Louise Ray and Lovie McGaughy; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends including, Dixie Smith, Margaret Wren, Janice Green-Williams and Bobbie Fields. Mrs. Wynne was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Wynne Sr.; parents, Roosevelt and Ruby Flippen; sister, Ella Lee Dobbins; brothers, John A. Flippen, Roosevelt Flippen Jr. William S. Flippen, Charles C. Flippen, Henry Coakley-Flippen, Homer A. Flippen and Daniel E. Flippen; brothers-in-law, O.T. Wynne and Mack Wynne; sisters-in-law, Odessa Webb, Bea Woodson, Gladys Reeves, Almetra Carter, Virginia Berry, Loretta Grant, Margree Alexander and Dorothy Bibbs.
