HYATT, Mr. Omar Abdel - Age 55, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2026, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Hyatt will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Friday. Omar Abdel Hyatt, age 55, of Flint, Michigan passed away surrounded by love and memories of a life well lived. Omar proudly attended Flint Academy High School, Baker College, and Ferris State University where he was known for his warm sense of humor and his ability to bring smiles and joy to those around him. Omar dedicated his professional life to helping young people in his community. He worked as an Instructional Technology Teacher at Flint Northern High School, Graphic Artist at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Illinois and later as a Certified Peer Recovery Coach at Odyssey House, Inc. In each role, he was respected for his compassion, creativity, and commitment. In his free time, Omar enjoyed playing the guitar, writing and reciting poetry, cooking, going to the bookstore, collecting records, and spending time with his family and friends. Omar A. Hyatt leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Rosa Hyatt; brother, Jamal Hayat; sisters, Fatina (Jamero) Hatter, and Taj Bryson; nephews, Dayyan Hayat, Taiwan Williams, Reggie Bryson; nieces, Cameron Hatter, Rasha Bryson, Tiffany Bryson, Valentina Bryson. And a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends. Omar was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Bessie Mae Stanley and James Brown Hyatt and Veola Coleman; father, Herman Hyatt; aunts, Lucinda Fisher, Norma Stanley-Thompson, Patricia Stanley; uncles, Herbert Hyatt, Vernon Manning, Woodrow Stanley, Edward Stanley and Jimmy Stanley. Omar will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and the positive impact he made in the lives of others. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
