LEWIS, Mr. Ocie - Age 80, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Thursday, July 9, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Eld. Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Thursday. Mr. Lewis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Wednesday. Mr. Ocie Lewis was born November 22, 1928 in Carrollton, Mississippi, the son of John Thomas and Maggie (Beck) Lewis. Mr. Lewis attended school in Carrollton County, MS. He served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. Mr. Lewis came to Flint in 1953. He worked for Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant, retiring after 41 year of service and was a member of UAW Local #659. Mr. Lewis enjoyed working in his garden and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 53 years, Lellor B. Lewis; daughter, Sharon Lewis-Kelley, all of Flint; 4 sons, Ocie Jr. (Lelia) Lewis of Canton, MI, Winfrey (Dorothy) Lewis of Louisville, KY, Vincent Lewis of Flint and Steven (Sonya) Lewis of Laurel, MD; grandchildren, Lateia Kelley of Novi, MI, Sheena Kelley of Grand Blanc, MI, Oshia, Ocie, Montre` and Ayana Lewis, allof Canton, MI, Cottrall, Michael and Troy Lewis, all of Louisville, KY, Lekesha, DeLisa and Steven Lewis, all of Laurel, MD; great-granddaughter, Amaiah Mitchell of Novi, MI; 5 aunts, Lucille Lee of North Carrollton, MS, Victoria Walls of Detroit, MI, Dora Biggs of Chicago, IL, Rosetta Swims of Grenada, MS and Alice (Mollie) Jones; uncle, James (Ethel) Lewis, all of Winona, MS; 6 sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Willie F.) George, Eula Austin, Virginia Swims, Louvenia (Laverne) Drake and Annette (Booker T.) Clay; 3 brothers-in-law, JG (Ruth) Smith, Mavis Smith, Jr. and Willie Ervin Smith; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Maggie Lewis; aunts, Ida Walls, Annie Johnson, Martha Anderson, Easter Swims, Lucille Beard and Tommie Liddell; uncles, Shannon, Ellis, and Zeak Beck, Charlie, Percy and Buford Lewis.
