REYNOLDS, Mr. Obadiah - Age 81, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Charles E. Roots officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Thursday. Mr. Reynolds will liein state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Hom, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Wednesday. Mr. Obadiah C. Reynolds was born April 2, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late James and Elnora Reynolds. Obadiah Reynolds at the age of 81 was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2008. Mr. Reynolds was a resident of Flint, the majority of his life. He was baptized at Canaan Baptist church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dudley. Obadiah was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mary E. Oliver on April 24, 1978. Obadiah loved to sing and shared that melodious tenor voice with the various choruses of the church: Gospel Chorus, Male Chorus, Voices of Canaan and the Unity Choir. One of his favorite songs was “Peace Be Still”. Obadiah also served on the Deacon Board Ministry and was faithful until his illness. Obie enjoyed various activities especially fishing. He loved all kinds of sports and his favorite teams were the Lions, Tigers and Pistons. He was an avid sports fan. He loved discussing politics and world affairs. He was a great debater. He never met a stranger. Obie loved people. Mr. Obadiah C. Reynolds leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary E. Reynolds; son, Clifford Williams; daughter, Margene (Hubert) Gentry all of Flint; 5 grandchildren, Qawntez Hightower, Diamond and Jermaine Gentry, DeWayne Carroll and Gregory Barton all of Flint; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Gloria) Reynolds of Mt. Morris; 6 nieces, Wendy Reynolds, Deborah Thomas, Leslie Reynolds, Paula Reynolds, Robyn Reynolds and Glenda Hodges; 5 nephews, Robert Reynolds, Terrance Reynolds, Richard Reynolds, Terry Jackson and Isaac Jackson; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Joseph and Lena Haynes; brother, Samuel Reynolds; sisters, Gertrude Johnson and Jessie Reynolds-Blanchard. The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Hurley Medical Center and Dr. H. Ahmed for their dedication and care.
