RUSSELL, Mrs. Nora Age 91, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, October 3, 2025, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment, Lovedale Cemetery, 5175 East Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Russell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday. Nora Ruth (Evans) Russell, died peacefully at her residence, on September 22, 2025. She was 91 years old. Beautiful Nora was a very bright star to all who knew her. Nora was born in Berkely, California on February 8, 1934, the youngest child of John and Etta Evans. She married Sylvester Doc Russell, and together they had three children, Diane, Kent and Karen. After some years Nora got divorced. As a single mother, she raised her three children in Flint, Michigan. The task of raising her children alone, had many hardships and also many triumphs. Nora stayed respectful, smart and strong, which in turn made her children respectful, smart and strong. Nora handled many jobs. Her last job was at A C Delphi (GM) after thirty plus years of service. She enjoyed the comforts of her labor humbly. Home life was private, comfortable and relaxing. Nora enjoyed reading, television, music and making others happy, often entertaining. She loved her family, helping her children, grandchildren and family members. Always sending flowers, birthday cakes and sending food. Nora had her way about herself, like no other. Using hand gestures, eye contact, unique remarks like, “Cheers” “You can Hang it Up” and of course her favorite “Darling”. Nora was truly a delight to be around and she kept us on our toes, for sure! Always smiling which makes us smile still. She will be dearly missed. Nora Ruth Russell leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Diane Thompson and Karen (David) Russell-Woods; grandchildren, Jaquel Thompson, Janelle (Juan) Pitts, Jacenta Thompson and Satyana Pitts; grand-daughter-in-law, Latoya (Keith) Urquhart; 10 great-grandchildren, Makayla (Conner) Archibald, Kent Thompson, Lee (Luppy) Thompson, Eshawn Pitts, Rico Pitts, Jacoby and Curtis Thompson, Nakisha King, Jaxson and Zyon Pitts; 4 great-grandchildren-in-laws, Xavier Urquhart, Xaiden Urquhart, Xamir Urquhart and Xyair Urquhart; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Charlotte Pitts, Parker Archibald and Ava Archibald; siblings, Eddie Evans and Alice Russell; many nieces and nephews whom Nora loved each one and a host of friends and co-workers. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, John and Etta Evans; siblings, Oscar Evans and Mildred Marshall; son, Kent Russell. The family would like to thank Harmony Hospice; special thanks to Pastor Wayne and Pastor Deniel; nurse, Lisa Badour; aide, Joanne “Angel” Nelson and many more. Also special thanks to Nora’s Private in home aide Valerie Harding-Williams, a wonderful person and the entire staff of Medilodge Montrose and Willowbrook Manor Facilities for their kindness and to Ms. Nora during her residency.
