Nora Fields

FIELDS, Mrs. Nora - Age 87, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 12Noon Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, G-3184 W. Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. Rev. Dr. Fred S. White officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Wednesday. Mrs. Fields will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Nora Fields was born September 15, 1923 in Pineville, Louisiana, the daughter of Louis and Minerva Sanders. Nora had been a resident of Flint for 55 years. She was a faithful member of New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board, serving gracefully until the time of her illness. Nora retired from Greyhound Food Services, Fisher Body with 15 years of service. She found great happiness in life due to the things she loved most; cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family. Nora was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt grandmother and friend. She leaves to cherish her memories: 5 children, Sam (Bridget) Fields of Saginaw, MI, Carolyn Parker of Flushing, MI, Alonzo Sr. (Patricia), Roy (Junnie), and Ray Fields, all of Flint; grandchildren, Evelyn, Wanda, Lorraine, Kimberly, Terence, Diane, Cheryl, Robert, Serita, Latonia, Alonzo, Jr., Raynard, Yolanda, Adrian, Adrianna, Etoy, Nahshon, Roy Jr., Tishara, Stephanie, Roslyn, Teeya, Tremaine and Sam; 50 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 brother, Dennis (Maria) Sanders of Flint; 2 sisters-in-law, Pattie Sanders of Pineville, LA and Margaret Bell of Daily City, CA; a host of nieces and nephews, many cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Fields; daughter, Frances Teer; parents, Louis and Minerva Sanders; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; and son-in-law, George Parker. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Imad Tahboub, the staff of Avalon Hospice, the Morgan, Howard, Previtt and Green Families, Rev. Dr. Fred S. White and the New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church for their kind deeds and comforting expressions shown during this time.
