Noble Jones

JONES, Mr. Noble - Age 91, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Heartland Hospice. Family hour 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. Pastor Carlos D. Williams, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:20 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Noble Jones was born October 23, 1920 in Antoine, Arkansas the son of Mr. Ike Jones and Mrs. Cora Ingram Mosley Matlock. Mr. Jones was a faithful and supportive member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle for over 50 years and was very active until his health began to fail. He served on the Trustee Board, was a Sunday school teacher for many years, member of the Finance Committee and served on the Senior Usher Board. Mr. Jones was employed at Buick Motors, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 599 for over 35 years. He was an avid gardner and loved hunting. Mr. Jones also loved to fish and his two favorite fishing partners were Annie Mae Pointer and Mrs. Dora Fleming. He leaves to cherish is memory: wife, Mrs. Linnell Jones; 6 grandchildren, Mrs. Sheila (Jimmie) Hopson of Memphis, TN, Mr. Derrick Tyms, MI, Mr. Lance Tyms, Mr. Melvin (Rene) Tyms, Ms. Tracy Howell and Ms. LaQuanda Howell, all of Grand Rapids, MI; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews including nieces, Bobie Rison, Jereline Thomas and Ruby Hollinger; a host of other relatives and friends including very special cousin, Ms. Ruthel Dickerson, very very special friend, Mr. Charles (Doris) Thomas, god granddaughter, Charveya Turner Rhymes, to my Pastor Rev. Carlos D. Williams and the entire Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle Church family. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his daughter, Ms. Clara Howell; grandson, Mr. Lorenzo Tyms; mother, Cora Ingram Mosley Matlock; father, Ike Jones; brothers, Mr. Edgar Jones, Mr. Robert Mosley; sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Lucille (Erin) McDaniel; nephews, Earnest McDaniel and Robert Mosley, Sr.; son-in-law, Roy Howell. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, McLaren of Flint, and a very special thanks to Fostrian Assisted Living.
