THAMES, Ms. Nina Maria- Age 49, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Thursday, July 3, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Rev. Alfred L. Harris, Sr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Thursday. Ms. Thames will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday. Ms. Nina Maria Thames was born November 4, 1958 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mrs. Mildred Caldwell and the late Mr. Charles Rodgers. She accepted christ at an early age at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan. Nina attended Flint Community Schools and Mott Community College, where she studied nursing. She was employed at a host of different nursing homes, where she offered companionship and comfort. Nina loved volunteering her time. Her hobbies included “anything” that meant spending time with her family, especially her 8 grandbabies. Ms. Nina Thames leaves in God’s care: mother, Mrs. Mildred Caldwell of Davison, MI; son, Darius Merideth Thames; daughter, Moira Letitia Thames both of Flint, MI; 8 grandchildren, Sham’Payne Thames, Skylar Thames, Damien Fountain, Jr., Serenity ‘Reny” Thames, Aarius “Girlfriend” Walker, Darius “DooDoo” Thames, Jr., Aariona Walker and Somaura “Momma” Thames all of Flint, MI; 8 siblings, Denise Butts of Pontiac, MI, Cindy Gant of Gary, IN, Aurelia Smith-Rodgers of Benton Harbor, MI, Richard Rodgers of Washington, D.C., Charles Rodgers of Omaha, NE, Dale (Denise) Thames of Flint, MI, Llewelynn (Carolyn) Rodgers of Otisville, MI and Lynn Caldwell of Davison, MI; 6 nieces, Cherrisee, Janelle, Nicole, Sameria, Toya and Alisha; 7 nephews, Laron, Dale Jr. “Dude”, Donnie, Johnnie, Lauren “Peanut”, Adrian, Dennis; many great nieces and nephews; 3 uncles, Willie Thames of Clio, MI, Johnnie (Martha) Thames of Flint, MI and Lee Arthur Thames of Waynesboro, MS; aunt, Ida (Clarence) Hopkins of Flint, MI; god-daughter, Sharda and 1 god-grandson; a host of cousins and other relatives and friends including best friends, Margaret Townsend, Annette Anderson, and of course her mom, Mildred Caldwell, her daughter, Moria Thames and her aunt, Ida Hopkins. Ms. Thames was preceded in death by her fathers, C. Rodgers and C. Caldwell; grandparents, L. & M. Caldwell, C. & A. Rodgers and Marie (Lawrence)Thames; sister, Sherry Thames and aunt, Loretta Pharms; uncles, Lawrence and C. Herman Thames.
