Mr. Nelson Earl Peat Sr.

PEAT SR., Mr. Nelson Earl - Age 55, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Charles E. Roots officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Peat will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Nelson Earl Peat Sr. was born November 4, 1959 in Crawford, Mississippi, the son of the late Addie Mae and Austin Peat, Sr. He moved to Flint, M in 1968. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, under the leader ship of the late Rev. Robert L. Blanks Sr. He attended Crawford Elementary and Northwestern high school. He was last employed at Gators car wash. He loved and enjoyed singing and dancing with his daughter. Making others smile and at family gathers we could always count on him to sing. One of his favorite sayings was “Name Peat not repeat”. Mr. Nelson Earl Peat Sr. gone without a whisper of a goodbye leaves to cherish his ever so loving memories: 4 daughters, Chiquanna lee Brewer Peat, LaShawna Hall, Sharna Peat, LaShay Peat all of Flint, MI; 3 sons, Earl Dionn Brewer, Earl Hall, and Lil Nelson Peat, all of Flint, MI; a host grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Barbara Brooks of Flint, MI; 2 brothers, Edward Peat of Flint, MI and Austin Peat of Columbus, MS; 1 step-sister, Mary (Mose) Tucker; 2 step-brothers, J.B. Odneal of Flint, MI and Willie (Helen) Odneal of Columbus, MS; 8 sister-in-laws; 4 brother-in-laws; a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends including the mothers of his children, Barbara Brewer Peat and Francine Swanson; special cousin, Tommy Stevenson; special friends, Vanessa Thornton, Theodora (Ted) Moore, uncle Henry, Valisa Walker and the Swanson Family. Mr. Peat was preceded in death by his parents, Addie Mae and Austin Peat, Sr.; daughter, Anttrenette Marie Brewer; Sisters, Essie Peat and Queen Sykes; brother and sister-in-law, Halbert (Betty) Peat; step-sister, Jearaldine Lyde; step-brother, John Robert Odneal; sister-in-law Johnie odneal; special brother, Roy Stewart and special cousin, Bertha Harris Williams.
