LOCK, Mrs. Narvella (Brown) - Age 78, departed this life, Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor James Waldon officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Lock will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Monday with family present. Mrs. Narvella Lock was born July 9, 1932 in Blevins, Arkansas, the daughter of Will and Laura Brown. Narvella accepted Christ at an early age at Elizabeth A.M.E. Church in Prescott, Arkansas. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1956, where she became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Narvella later became a member of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, Adult Choir, Bereavement and Floral Committee, Pastor’s Aide and Kitchen Committee. She loved to cook, but was well known for her (German Chocolate Cake and Peach Cobbler). Narvella also loved to watch basketball, with the Pistons being her favorite team. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Annette Frazier, Lavern Lock, both of Flint and Toni (Jay) Stills of San Antonio, TX; 2 sons, Alvern (Theresa) Lock, Sr., of Grand Blanc, MI and Jerome Lock of Flint; grandchildren, Anita Frazier of Grand Rapids, MI, Darnell Lock, Anthony Frazier, both of Flint, Kendall Lock of Seattle, WA, Kendra Rawls of Flint and Alvern Lock, Jr., of Grand Blanc, MI; adopted granddaughter, Terra Tillman of Flint; great-grandchildren, Lonnie Frazier, Akila Frazier, Diamond Scales, Ethan Lock, Tyonika Frazier, Kendall Lock, Jr. and Ebonie Lock; sister, Kathernie Kenebrew, all of Flint; 3 brothers, Jim (Jeannie) Brown of Flint, Roosevelt (Birdie) Brown of Mt. Morris, MI and Samuel Brown of Ellenwood, GA; 2 sisters-in-law, Susie Lee Brown of Mt. Morris, MI and Helen Brown of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friend, Ruby Blakely. Mrs. Lock was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ernest Lock, Jr.; parents; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center ICU, Davita Dialysis, Kith Haven Nursing Home Facility, Vernon Chapel AME Church Family and Pastor James Waldon and the Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church Family.
