Myrtle Wiley

WILEY, Mrs. Myrtle Mae - Age 81, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Eld. Norman Booker officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Wiley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Myrtle was born April 20, 1930 in Lexington, Mississippi. She was the middle daughter born to Nathaniel and Johnnie Mae Randall. In 1948, Myrtle married George W. Wiley and from that union they were blessed with six children. In 1953, the Wiley family moved to Flint, Michigan. Upon moving to Flint Myrtle worked at Durant Hotel and later A.C. , where she was employed for over 27 years. Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who over the years cared and nurtured for many children. Myrtle loved to cook and spend time with her family and friends; her favorite holidays were Easter, where she would color eggs with her grandchildren and hide them and Christmas. Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 63 years, George W. Wiley of Flint, MI; five children, Crystal Diane (William) Saines, George (Wanda) Wiley, James Wiley, Larry (Jeanette) Wiley, Jacqueline Wiley-Jackson all of Flint, MI; one step-sister, Willie Mae Jordan of Madison, WI; one step-brother, Francis (Linda) Brown of Cottage Grove, WI; four sister-in-laws, Hermine Booker of Flint, MI; Charlene (Isaiah) Young of Tulare, CA, Aggie Randle of Crugar, MS, Callie (Lamar) Bates of Calumet City, IL; one brother-in-law, Theodore (Emma) Wiley of Flint, MI; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends including special cousin Lou Horton and neighbors of over 50 years, Andrew & Willie Grant. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; Mattie Randall; son, John Wiley; sisters, Doretha Mintor & Inez Love; step-sister, Earlene Logan; step-brothers, James Robinson and John Randle. The family would like to express special thanks for the many acts of kindness shown to them in their hour of sorrow. A special thanks to Greater Galilee Baptist Church, Kingdom First Church and Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church families.
