Mrs. Myra Louise Washington

WASHINGTON, Mrs. Myra Louise - Age 71, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Vernon Chapel AME Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Robert Blake, Host Pastor, Pastor Matthew Jackson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Washington will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. There will be no public viewing. Mrs. Myra Washington was born February 17, 1945 in Flint Michigan. The daughter of Minerva (Suk) Wofford. She attended Flint Community Schools and later retired from Fisher Body I, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #581. She was a member of Refuge Temple Church of Flint and often visited Vernon Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. Mrs. Washington enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing cards and most of all spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Myra Washington , our beautiful mother, grandmother, aka “Nana”, sister, cousin and friend leaves to cherish her sweet memories: 5 daughters, Dawn (Gerome) Peterson, Minerva (Keith) Peterson, Sonia Wofford, Simone Wofford, Trinket (Allen, Sr.) Wesley all of Flint; 3 step-daughters, Deborah (David) Jones, Kim and Shelly Washington all of West VA; 2 step-sons, James (Benji) Jackson of Flint and Billy Washington of W. VA; 12 grandchildren, Latika (Richard Jr.) Simpson, Echo Wofford, Shandreka Davis, Dequant’e Walker, Allen Wesley, Jr., Lexie Jenkins, Destinee Peterson, Keith Peterson II, Maranda Wesley, Michelle Lowe, Taylor Jones and Deiondra Brown; great-grandchildren, Diamond Simpson, Rihonna Simpson, Richard Simpson IV, Calila Johnson, Johnathon F. Johnson, Keontae Wofford, Nevaeh Wofford and Tyrerll and Leo Love; great-great granddaughter, Miyonna (Miy Miy) Turner; sister, Nona Mae Adams; brother, Robert Trumbo; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including special niece, Kim Day, god-daughter, Rosemary Peterson; cousins, Watella Atkins, Gwendolyn Allen Joann Lewis, and very dear friend, Betsie Short, Robin Roland and Lonie McKenzie. Mrs. Washington was preceded in death by; husband, James Washington; mother, Minerva Wofford, brother; Brent Wofford and nephew, Kareem Adams.
