MARSHALL, Atty. Mya L. PLLC Age 41, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 in Birmingham, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, August 20, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Bishop Bernadel Jefferson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Atty. Marshall will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public viewing during family hour only. Attorney Mya L. Marshall was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. Mya was the daughter of Billy and Wanda (Simmons) Marshall. Even in high school, Mya earned recognition at local and state levels for her volunteerism and community involvement including Proclamations from the Michigan House of Representatives, Senate and the Proclamation of "Mya L. Marshall Day" In the City of Flint, Michigan. After High School, Mya matriculated at Central Michigan University, earning her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biology and Political Science with an concentration in Public Administration. She also earned her Masters of Science in Administration degree, maintaining an 4.0 GPA, from Central Michigan University. Subsequently, Mya was inducted into Golden Key International Honor Society. Mya went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. While attending Cooley, Mya participated in Moot Court Board, BLSA, Moot Court and Client Counseling competitions. She represented Cooley as a board member for the State Bar of Michigan Law Student Section and participated in the Estate Planning Clinic. A Multi-tasker, Mya worked full time as an Medical Laboratory Technologist Lead Instructor for the American Red Cross while attending Law school. Mya previously worked for the Detroit Crime Laboratory as an Forensic Technician. During her tenure with the Detroit Crime Laboratory, Mya was court-qualified as an expert witness. In late 2011, Attorney Marshall, founded the Law Offices of Mya L. Marshall, P.L.L.C. in Detroit Michigan. The mission of the Law Offices of Mya L. Marshall, P.L.L.C. is to provide professional, client-responsive legal services and to establish a reputation as an engaged emissary of legal information to the public. Attorney Marshall's personal life philosophy has guided her through a lifetime of service to her community. She is a member of several Bar Associations, American Inns of Court, Phi Alpha Delta Law fraternity, and a member of the State Bar of Michigan Client Protection Fund Committee. Mya has volunteered her legal services via Pro-bono programs in Immigration Law and in the Eastern District of Michigan Bankruptcy Court. Mya is also a member of the North Oakland County Board of Realtors and a Michigan Licensed Realtor. Attorney Mya L. Marshall leaves to cherish in God’s care: mother, Pastor Wanda Marshall; father Billy D. (Janet) Marshall; sister, Deshna A. Marshall, all of Flint; brother, Isaac E. Marshall of Bain Bridge, WA; 2 nieces, Sinclaire A. Marshall and Brianna Marshall; nephew, Brandon M. Marshall; aunts, Cecilia Brooks, Sarah Gray, Maxine Murray, Jaqueline Marshall, Sandra Marshall, Sydney Marshall, Ollie Murphy, Betty Marshall; uncles, Major G. Fuller, Lendale Marshall (Sydney Marshall), and William L. Marshall; a host of cousins, including the Brooks, Webb, Murray, Marshall, Gray, Simmons, Neal, Forward, Sublett, Sanders, Rice, Fuller, Jarrett and Mack families. Attorney Marshall was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sarah Simmons, Grady Simmons, Jessie M. and William T. Marshall; brother, Ronnie M. Marshall; cousins, James Forward, Yusef Murphy, Lisette “GiGi” Murray, Frieda Hairston, Johnathan Webb and Kathy L. Brooks; aunts, Marva J. Webb and Mary Francis Hines; uncles, Mark A. Simmons, Rayford Gray, Hoyle Marshall, Carl Hines, Charles Murray and Cleveland Brooks.
