Mrs. Muriel Mitchell

MITCHELL, Mrs. Muriel - Age 77, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Min. Ronnie Hardy officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Mitchell now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed during family hour only. Ms. Muriel Mitchell was born June 12, 1938 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Redmond. She was the oldest of 4 siblings. Muriel attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Lowell Jr. High School, Flint Central High School and later graduated from Flint Northern High School. She was employed at Fisher Body Grand Blanc and was a member of UAW Local #1292 where she later retired. Muriel was baptized at an early age at Dozier CME Church. She was a member of Vernon Chapel AME Church and later became a member of New Harvest Church, under the leadership of Pastro Antwan Rowland. Muriel was an excellent skater that taught all her children to skate as a family bonding. She loved to travel, read the Bible and was a lover of all types of music (a fan of AM1420). She was a excellent cook and taught everyone how to cook, boys and girls. Muriel believed in being self sufficient and independent! In 1975, she followed her dream and created Faith and Love Production, which was a Gospel based promoting company. This dream made her a brilliant Gospel Promoter bringing various gospel artists to the city and surrounding areas. She and Carter McWright worked together on numerous concerts. Later she had a radio broadcast on AM1570 called Faith and Love Gospel Express, which was used to promote various gospel artists, events and inspiration for people. MC’d by herself and her son, Lamarr Mitchell. Muriel was loved by many, she always said that God will give you family and everyone she touched became her family! She also believed you should love all and have faith in God. Muriel was a mother of many and a friend to all! Ms. Muriel Mitchell leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters and 4 sons, Albert Lee Watson, Jr., Michael (Rena) Watson, Gregory Lamarr Mitchell, all of Flint, Tracy (Ronnie) Hardy of Hagerstown, MD, Terry Glen Mitchell of Texarkana, TX, LaTrina Sharna Watson (daughter/granddaughter); special daughter-in-law, Kim Watson; special nephew just like a son, Marcus Redmond; grandchildren, Wendell III, Tyrell, Sharita, Brittany, Lil Al, Shaquanda, Tamika, Tyrese, Terry II, Christopher, Rontraya, Ondre, Crystal, Ronald, Angel, Anna and Mark; great-grandchildren, Kayle and Jaden (her hanging buddy) and many others; sister, Lorraine (Eddie) Johnson of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Carolyn Randolph-Witcher (spiritual sister), Boss, Krystal Johnson Wallace, Kalris Brown, Lena Smith, Erma Jean Milton-Poindexter, god-daughter, Ernestine “Stine” Lee, Baltimore Blvd. family and Carter McWright of the Music Planet. Ms. Mitchell was preceded in death by her daughter, Arlinda Yvonne Watson; parents, Arthur and Dorothy Redmond; brothers, Richard and Clarence Redmond; niece, LaTonya Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical 6 East staff, 9 East staff and Geriatric Team, Quinn and other Willowbrook staff, Hartland Hospice, caregiver, Leslie, Dr. Alkotob, Dr. Al Qasmi, Dr. Osmon and Pastor Antwan (Kim) Rowland.
