DUGAN, Mrs. Jo - Age 90, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 1PM Wednesday September 14, 2011 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Avenue, with funeral service commencing at 1:30PM. Pastor Carlos D. Williams officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 1PM Wednesday. Mrs. Dugan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may viewed from 1PM-8PM Tuesday. Mrs. Jo Mennie Dugan was born March 24, 1921 in Poplar Grove, Arkansas. She passed away peacefully September 8, 2011. She was the oldest of six siblings born to Josephus Humphries and Mozella (Burnett). Jo attended school in Trenton, Arkansas and at an early age she joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In 1942, she married Robert C. (RC) Dugan and together, they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There, she was a member of the St. John’s Baptist Church. Jo worked in the telecommunications industry and retired after 30 years of service. In 1999, Jo moved to Pasadena, California and in 2007, she relocated to Flint Michigan. Jo united with Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle where she served on the Mothers Board until her death. She enjoyed her family, reading, and was an outstanding conversationalist. Jo leaves to cherish her memory, sister: Virta R. (Lovelace) Hamilton of Flint, MI; nieces: Bettina (Clarence) Campbell of Rankin, MI; Delores Blakely of Flint, MI; Robin Humphries of Pasadena, CA; Denise (Arthur) Crawford of St. Louis MO; Lisa (Craig) Wilson of Pasadena; TaMara Campbell of Laurel, MD; nephews: Curtis Cunningham of St. Louis, MO; Gregory Humphries of Pasadena, CA; Robert (Hernabeth) Humphries of Los Angeles, CA; Terrance (Regina) Campbell of Detroit, MI; Joseph (Hripsime) Bartholomew of Pasadena, CA; Evan (Michelle) Wilson of Moreno Valley, CA; Andrew and Luke Wilson; Damon and Jason Franklin all of Pasadena, CA. and a host of other relatives and friends; including 18 great, great nieces and nephews. Jo was preceded in death by: husband Robert C. Dugan; parents Josephus and Mozella (Burnett) Humphries; 3 sisters: Bernice Humphries, Thelma Cunningham and Myrtis Turner and brother Brinkie C. Humphries. The family reserves special thanks and recognition for care providers Deborah Chapman Marshall; Robert Blakely and Ryan Grays.
