Mrs. Mozella Faye Walker

WALKER, Mrs. Mozella Faye - Age 72, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, January 31, 2020 at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1226 Beach Street, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Ezra L. Tillman Jr. officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Mozella Walton-Walker was born April 9, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of George and Lula Walton. Mozella was baptized at an early age at New Zion Baptist Church by Pastor W.D. Terry. Later in life she became a member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church for 25 years. While a being a part of First Trinity she was a member of the Silverliners Ministry and also was a dedicated member of the Kitchen Committee. First Trinity knew her best as the “Mahalia Soloist” and granny to young adults. Sis. Mozella Walker graduated from Flint Northern High School and went on to work for Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors Corporation for 18 years and was a member of UAW Local #599. Everyone knew her best for her cooking; especially her dressing, greens, peach cobbler and many more great dishes. She loved to play Nintendo, have sleep overs and play Monopoly with her grandchildren. No one could ever beat her. Mozella also loved to play and watch sports and could call any game. She was very quick on her feet and was the family protector. Mozella was dedicated to her family gospel group, “The Gospel Souls” of Flint where she was known for her favorite song, “Hush!” Sis. Mozella Walker was loved by everyone and will truly be missed. Most of all she truly loved the Lord. Mrs. Mozella Walton-Walker leaves to cherish her memory: beloved and wonderful husband of 33 years who will forever be in her heart up above in heaven, Mr. Don Allen Walker Sr.; 5 daughters and 4 sons, Terry (Tony) McWright, Arthur (Lisa) Walton, Maurice Walton, Cassandra Walker, Don (Evelyn) Walker Jr., Yasmine March, Jacqueline (Ernest) Willingham, Chiquana D. Richie and Diontae M. Douglas; 45 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; siblings, George Walton Jr., Thomas Clint Walton, Eddie Lee Walton, Lula Mary Walton; aunt, Martha (Virgil) Spear; 2 sisters-in-law. Janice Brown and Kim Brown; special daughter-in-law, Patrice Askew; god-daughters, Ann Pendleton and Kashal Harris; a host of spiritual grandchildren; special daughters, Bethany Walton, Audre Pitts, Phyllis Diller, Phyllis Reed, Natalie Jones and Barbara Wiley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Earnestine Moore and Lou Golden. Mrs. Walton-Walker was preceded in death by her son, Issac Walton Sr.; parents, George and Lula Walton; siblings, Isther Lyon-Walton, Queen Esther Polk, Lizzie Mae Wilbon-Walton, Stella Walton Young, Daniel Webster-Walton; Leo Walton, mother and father-in-law, Jake and Ernestine Medcalf. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Mohammed Ali, Ascension Genesys staff and Davita Dialysis staff.
