Mother Price

PRICE, Mother Katherine - Age 82, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Brian's House. Family hour 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at New Creation Church of God, G-3472 Lennon Rd. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at New Creation Church of God. Evang. Tracey D. Cavette-Palmer officiating, Pastor Herbert Banks Host Pastor. Family and friends will assemble at the church 11 a.m Monday. Mother Katherine (McNair) Pricewas born the second child of the late Elbert and Leola (Bass) McNair in Mt Olive, Mississippi on June 19, 1928. She graduated from Magee Colored High Schoolin 1946. Mrs. Price married the love of her life Fordie C. Price in 1949 and from this union brought forth three children. In 1955, Mr. and Mrs. Price moved to Flint, Michigan determined to make a better life for their family. Mrs. Price has always had an excellent work ethic. When she reached Michigan she took day work, then a job at Walgreens, and later worked for 16 years for Chevrolet Truck and Bus. Being the loyal helpmate that she was, she helped her husband; Fordie, to establish Elm Park Fish Market. After retiring from Chevrolet Truck and Bus she worked for Flint Community Schools, Food Service Department, retiring from Northern Cafeteria in 2003. Mother Price has been a dedicated member of 12th Street Church of God; presently named New Creation Church of God, for 55 years. Countless precious memories, of Mother Katherine Price will be held close and dear by her daughter; Kathryn (Richard) Cavette of Flint, MI; three grandchildren, special granddaughter, Dr. Cheri A. (Leonard) Green of Nashville, TN, Evangelist Tracey D. (Carnie) Cavette-Palmer, Richard D. Cavette., Jr. all of Flint; five great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Zachary Palmer of Flint, Stephan of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Gabrielle and Grant Green, all of Nashville, TN; brother, Anthony P. Palmer of Flint; The White Family; five nieces, Michele (Urundi) Knox of Burton, MI, Evangelist Katrina (Milton) Meyers of Canton, MI, Teresa (Anthony) McNair-Willis of Flint, MI, Laura Ann McNair of Romeoville, IL and Angela McNair of Kankakee, IL; three nephews, Dr. James P. (Carmen) Lee of Ann Arbor, MI, Minister Todd “Andre” (Roshanda) Womack of Flint and Rayfield McNair Jr. of Kankakee, IL; a host of loving godchildren including special godchildren, Kenneth O. (Deborah) Moore of Grand Blanc, MI, Gala I. (Wayne) Jones-Sanford of Buffalo, NY, Dr. Kimberly D. Moore of Auburn Hills, MI; cousins, Elder Louis Adam White of Magee, MS and Evangelist Lula Jane Womack of Flint; sister-in law, Mildred Price of Mt Olive, MS; dear and best friends, Reo Earnest, Dorothy Jones, Mattie Mitchner and Earnestine Towns. Mother Price was preceded in death by her husband, Fordie C. Price; sons, Freddie “Mooney” and Glen Ray Price; parents, Elbert and Leola McNair; sister, Evelyn Lee; brother, Rayfield McNair; and niece, Joanne McNair-Lacour.
