MILLER, Mother Mattie Mae - Age 89, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Bishop Odis A. Floyd, Pastor, Pastor Danile Moore officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mother Miller will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mother Mattie Mae Miller was born August 29, 1920 in Sunflower, Mississippi, the oldest child of Lemmie Hearndon (Davis) and Eli Weathersby. Mother Miller departed this life after “89” years on June 9, 2010. After marrying her husband Eddie Miller “Pete” in 1942 they relocated to Flint, where they remained married for 49 years until his departure from this life on May 1, 1991. Mother Miller was a former member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church and later joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She was soon appointed to the Mother’s Board and was a faithful member until her illness. Mother Miller enjoyed playing BINGO, fishing, traveling with her family as well as with her church family. She was always ready to go!!! Her very special “gift” was making personalized quilts, unique and straight from her heart. Mother Miller loved to kid with people and was a joy to be around. She was a loving, cheerful, witty person with a personality unlike any other. Mother Miller was also the Matriarch of both the Miller and Hearndon families. She leaves to cherish her memories: children, Eddie Jr., “Phinnie”, Marion “Weasel”, Caroline “Bum”, all of Flint, Michael of Ashtabula, OH; stepdaughter, Margaret (James) Jones of Flint; sisters, Rosie Griswold of Detroit, MI, Laura Robinson of Warren, MI, Janice Hearndon of Detroit, MI; brother, Clarence Hearndon of Ionia, MI; grandchildren, Darnell and Ever, both of Ypsilanti, MI, Tansy Terrell of Newnan, Georgia, LaShonia of Flint, Monique Ross of Phoenix, AZ, Coty of McMinville, TN, Zack of San Diego, CA, Michael Jr. of Flint, Devon, Maddy and Braxton, all of Indianapolis, IN, Cynthia Luckett of Portland, OR, Kevin Mason of Ft. Smith, AR, Jacqueline Luckett of Charlotte, NC, James and Cory Mason, both of Linden, MI; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; host of nieces including special nieces, Florence Burton of Flint and Joi of Georgia; a host of nephews; cousins, Booker and Juanita Harris, both of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Clara Hearndon of Detroit, MI; longtime friend, Juliah Bryant. Mother Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Miller; granddaughter; mother and stepfather, Lemmie and Hezikah Hearndon; father, Eli Weathersby; 6 brothers; 2 sisters and a host of other relatives.
