McCOVERY, Mother Elnora (Stallworth) - Age 84, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at her residence. Mother McCovery will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6M Sunday. Afterwhich, Mother McCovery will be taken to Millenders Funeral Home, 4412 Main St., Moss Point, MS, (228) 475-5448. Family hour 10AM Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at First Baptist Missionary Church, 4600 Main Street, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Dr. C.V. Taylor officiating. Pastor James O. Harris Host Pastor. Interment Scranton Cemetery. Mrs. Elnora McCovery was born June 20, 1924 in Monroeville, Alabama the daughter of the Jessie and Masie Stallworth. She was a resident of Flint, MI and a member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. McCovery worked at Stokes Cleaners for many years in Pasagoula, MS until her health prohibited. She moved to Flint, it was all about her family. She loved fishing, cooking, going on long Sunday rides, traveling and staying at hotels and getting together with her family. Mrs. Elnora McCovery leaves to cherish her memory; 3 daughters, Lucille (Sam) Snowden, Dorthy (Arthur) Burns and Ire Louise (Melvin) Gillespie; 6 sons, Leslie (Eloise) McCovery, all of Flint, MI, Willie (Dorothy) McCovery of Poodle, GA, James (Ethel Mae) McCovery of Flint, MI, David (Georgette) McCovery, Robert (Denise) McCovery, all of Moss Point, MS, Sherman (Candy Owens) McCovery of Flint, MI; 28 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; aunt, Pearl Stewart; 6 sisters-in-law, Estella (Edward) Watson, Edna Watson, Flora McCovery, all of Moss Point, MS, Lula McCovery, Lena Mae Stallworth both of Pensacola, FL and Rosie, A. McCovery of Monroeville, AL; brother-in-law, Wiley McCovery of Monroeville, AL; god-brother, Jack McCovery; a host of other relatives and friends including close friend, Sis. Dorothy Molden; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Elnora McCovery was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leslie McCovery, Sr.; parents, Jessie and Masie Stallworth; brothers, Leroy and Bobby Lee Stallworth; father and mother-in-law, Wiley and Estella McCovery; grandson, Samuel Snowden and granddaughter, Cytonia Robinson. The family would like to express thanks to Pastor F.O. Hockenhull and First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church family and friends, Dr. Koesy and staff, Home Health Care and the Hospice Staff.
