COOK, Mother Artie M. - Age 84, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 E. Downey Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Morris A. Collins, Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Tuesday. Mother Cook will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday and 9AM-8PM Monday. Mother Artie M. Cook was born December 25, 1924 in Seminary, Mississippi, the daughter of Albert and Estelle Williams. Mother Cook was a resident of Flint and a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and a Entrepreneur. Her interests included helping others, gardening and childcare. Everyone’s child was welcomed. Mother Cook was a strong-willed, strong-minded woman with a great sense of humor. She was very caring and loved seeing the family meeting together. Mother Cook was dedicated to the church. She was a member of Mt. Ora Baptist Church in Collins, MS before moving back to Flint. Mother Artie M. Cook leaves to cherish her memory: 4 sons and 2 daughters, Joy (Lloyd) Battle, Pastor John (Julia) Jenkins, M.L. (Patricia) Jenkins, Rev. Otis (Charlene) Jenkins, Vergie (Eddie) Dailey and Clyde (Sheila Davis) Jenkins, all of Flint; 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mother Cook was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Estelle Williams; husband, Oller C. Cook; former spouse, Otis Jenkins Sr.; son, Arthur Ray Jenkins; brothers, Johnny, Otis, and Carlee Williams; sisters, Weiddebell Bond and Verdie Brown; and granddaughter, Marilyn Moore. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Center CCU, DaVita Dialysis, Pastor Morris A. Collins, Sr., and the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church family, Pastor John L.
