Mother Hill

HILL, Pastor, Mother, Grandmother and woman of God, Lacie Elvie – Age 92, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 27, 2012. After an extensive illness and hospital stay, she took her rest at Genesys Convalescent Center with family at her side. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service at 11 a.m. Dr. Willie R. Hill, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mother Hill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. “Mother Hill,” as she was lovingly known, was born September 22, 1920 in Tiplersville, MS, the daughter of William Henry Harrison Blake and Eva Josephine Spight. She was the third youngest of eleven children. She was reared in this community until she went away to school and met her husband Rufus Hill. In 1956, the family moved from Tiplersville, MS to Flint, MI. Here they would raise their five children and greatly extend their group of friends and church family. She leaves to cherish her loving memory; one daughter, Minister Linda Faye Hill of Falkner, MS; two sons, Pastor Roger Lee Hill Sr.(Pastor Phyllis) of Mt.Morris, MI and Doctor Willie Raynard Hill Sr.(Elizabeth)of Falkner, MS; nine grandchildren: Christopher Hill, Elder Willie Hill Jr.(Bridget), Roger Hill Jr.(Ashli), Michelle Hill, Elder Nicholas Hill, Talecia Hill, Krystal Hill, Lauren Hill and Rachell Hill; six great-grandchildren: Tyler, Trey, Austin, Roger III, Ashlynn and Kerrington; one sister Lillian Jones(Robert) of Middleton, TN; one special cousin, Billie Tucker of Flint, MI; one special nephew, William Jones(Deborah) of Fenton , MI and special friends Arlene Kelly and Ethel Lewis both of Flint, Peggy and Bob Parrish of Tupelo, MS, and Mother Mary and Deacon Troy McDonald of Ripley, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family. Mother Hill was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva, her husband Rufus, infant daughter Brenda Kaye, sons Rickey and Rufus Jr., brothers Roy Blake, Tobe Blake, Henry Blake, Lonzo Blake, Leonard Blake, Ellis Blake; and sisters Genie Gibbs, Arlena Lanier and Lucy Blake, and a godson A. Stephen.
