REDDICK-CLARKE, Mrs. Modessa L. – Age 78, went to be with the Lord, Monday, September 14, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Saturday, September 19, 2009 Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12 Noon, Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 11AM Saturday. Mrs. Reddick-Clarke will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Friday. Mrs. Modessa L. Reddick-Clarke was born October 20, 1930 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, the daughter of Rev. Armstead and Pearl Sloan Reddick. Modessa was educated in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, graduating as Valedictorian of her class in 1949 from Cotton Plant Vocational High School. She was a faithful member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 30 years, serving as Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Three Score and More Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Bible Study and Prayer Ministry. Modessa was a true example of a woman of faith. She retired from Dayton Hudson as a Seamstress. Modessa loved her family, sewing, traveling, reading, watching CNN, trying new recipes and her church family. Modessa was a very gentle loving person and was loved by all who knew her. She will truly be missed by all. Mrs. Modessa L. Reddick-Clarke leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Bonita Nelson and Barbara (Willis) Lewis, Jr.; 4 sons, Min. Charles (Cynthia) Clarke, all of Flint, Min. Dale (Daisy) Clarke of Detroit, MI, Fred (Angela) Clarke, Jr. of Pickering, OH and Pastor David (Michelle) Clarke, Sr. of Kathleen, GA; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Johnnie (Roger) Swift of Cypress, TX and Pearl (John) Clark of Chicago, IL; 9 sisters-in-law; 6 brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special nephew, Alvin Clarke and special daughter, Valeria Clarke. Mrs. Clarke was preceded in death by her husband, Fred F. Clarke; parents; grandparents; 2 sisters; 5 brothers; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Clarke; and son-in-law, Chester Nelson. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr. and Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church family, nephew, Billy Reddick, Hurley Medical Center CCU 4th floor staff.
