Mrs. Minnie L. Williams

WILLIAMS, Mrs. Minnie L. - Age 85, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles E. Roots officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Minnie Louise Williams was born April 15, 1929 in Marianna, Arkansas, the daughter of Madison Peppers and Minnie J. Harris. She was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a member of Charity United Methodist Church for 26 years. In 2008 she joined Canaan Baptist Church. Minnie attended school in Marianna, AR. She was employed at the Durant Hotel as a Housekeeper for several years. Minnie provided in home day care services throughout the years. She also provided housing for foreign exchange students and was a Foster Parent. Minnie was a loving mother and aunt. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, listening to music, planting flowers and working with the youth. Minnie loved pets and collecting angels. In her youth she played softball. She was president of the block club and volunteered at Dort Oak Park Neighborhood House and Dort Elementary School. Minnie made many sacrifices in her life so that others may have a better life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and aunt. She found joy in making others laugh and smile. Minnie was a firm believer in the Lord and treating everyone with love and respect. Mrs. Minnie Louise Williams leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Angel Williams (Garth Spight); 3 grandchildren, Daz’ja Williams, Kyra Spight and Christopher Houston; 4 sisters, Corrine Gibson, Carrie Sain, Molly Peppers and Polly Broadway; 2 brothers, Bishop Calvin Peppers and Wiley Peppers; a host of nieces including special nieces, Marie Toms and Minnie Sain; a host of nephews including special nephew, Willie Sain; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Robbie Ransom, Zamir and Ms. Hillary. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Williams; brothers, Partee Peppers, Madison Peppers, Henry Peppers and Willie B. Peppers; and special friend, Sarah Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Malde, Dr. Sud, McLaren-Flint CCU staff, Gloria Maynie, Pastor Charles E. Roots and the Canaan Baptist Church family.
