Mother Minnie Keel

KEEL, Mother Minnie -Age 92 passed away at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Jamar Pittman, officiating. Interment, River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd., Flint, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Thursday. Mother Keel will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Ms. Minnie Pearl Keel was born on August 2, 1933, in Goodwater, Alabama, to the late Fredrick Fernwood and Willie Pearl Turner. She graduated from Flint Central High School, Class of 1951, and later retired from Fisher Guide (General Motors Corporation) in 1987. Minnie was a woman full of life who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved playing bingo, traveling to the casino, working crossword puzzles, and always carried a special passion for fashion. She was a faithful member of Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where she proudly served as the Mother of the Church and was honored as the oldest member of the congregation. To cherish her memory, Ms. Minnie Pearl Keel is survived by her two granddaughters, LaKisah Hall and Quisah Greene; her two great-granddaughters, Charbrielle Jackson and Ramya Hall; and her great-great-grandson, Michael Hall; as well as her brother, Alphonso Turner. She is also lovingly remembered by her goddaughter, Dianker Ashford, and her godchildren, DaQwantay and DeQuairea Ashford. Minnie’s legacy lives on through her nieces, Jalynn Turner, Pasty Simpson, and Valarie Hare; her nephews, Andre Turner and Milton Jr.; her great-nephew, Jerome Simpson; and her great-nieces, Jane-Cionnah and Kamarionnah Winfield. She will be deeply missed by her close friends Albert Dewayne, Terri ,Levoid, Rollen Price family, and a host of extended relatives and friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lynette Keel; her parents, Fredrick Fernwood and Willie Pearl Turner; her siblings, Johnny Turner, Vessie Turner, Betty Straham, and Linda Turner; and her dear friends, Helen Price and Lucy Stins Her presence, love, and light will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
