Milton Watson

WATSON, Mr. Milton - Age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday January 8, 2011 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth St., with funeral service commencing at 12 Noon. Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart, Officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Watson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Milton King Watson was born November 2, 1924 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Wade and Ora (Christopher) Watson. Milton joined the United States Navy at the age of 20 and served in World War II, where he was Honorably Discharged receiving the Victory Ribbon and the American Area Ribbon. He moved to Muskegon, Michigan, where he met the love of his life Madeline Norton. Milton married Madeline, who he affectionately called “Mad.” After which he and his wife moved to Flint, Michigan and unto this union 4 children were born: Baron, Sharon, Valerie and Cynthia. Milton loved his family with every fiber of his being. It was always family first. He moved to Flint, Michigan, where he worked for AC Spark Plug as a Jobsetter until his retirement after 49 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 651. He also was a member of the American Legion for numerous years. Milton was also a faithful member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for 61 years. He leaves to cherish his memory: faithful wife of 62 years, Madeline; son, Baron (Ella) Watson, Sr.; 2 daughters, Sharon Baxter (Joe Wilson) and Valerie (Andre’) Mills; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Aline Johnson of Camden, AR; 3 sisters-in-law, Mary Watson of Flint, Crystal Watson of Minneapolis, MN and Loretta Walton of Gary, IN; many nieces, nephews, and various other extended family member and friends including special friends, Charles Jones and J.W. Miller. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Merriwether; great-grandchildren, Alayjiah Harvell and Ramon Merriwether, Jr.; parents, Wade and Ora Watson; brothers, Rev. Malvern Watson, Warren “Mr. Crown” Watson and Christopher Watson; sister, Earline McRae; mother-in-law, Lola Norton; 6 sisters-in-law; and 9 brothers-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart and the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Family, Dr. Byron Schoolfield, Dr. Shah, Dr. Tummala, the staff of (5 North) Rehabilitation at McLaren Regional Medical Center and the Therapy staff of Gentiva.
