Mrs. Mildred Wilson

Wilson, Mrs. Mildred- Age 92, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Thomas G. Wilson officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Wilson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. Monday. On September 22, 1922 a beautiful baby Mildred Hoodye was born to the union of the late Louis Hoodye and Viola Slider-Hoodye in Bastrop, Texas. She attended the Texas school system and graduated from Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. Mildred accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. Mildred was a dedicated member of the Kingdom of Heaven Ministries until her health failed her. She was also a graduate of Faith Tech Bible School. On March 22, 1947, she married her childhood sweetheart, Blondene Wilson. They moved to Detroit, MI and to this union, one child Sharlette, was born. She was the apple of their eyes. Mildred was a blessed woman of God. God used her to touch many lives. She never met a stranger. Mildred would always provide words of wisdom, prayer and encouragement to everyone. Mildred was a family oriented person. She was very proud of her heritage and would look forward to seeing her sisters and brothers at the annual Hoodye Family Reunion. All of the family loved Aunt Mildred, who was affectionately known as “Aunt Tithie”. Mildred believed in hard work, excellence, education and putting God first. She loved to cook, dance, play games, sew, and tell jokes. She leaves to cherish sweet and lasting memories: daughter, Sharlette Kate of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jason) Coulter of Flint, MI; Robert Kate of Flint, MI, George, Tanya, Sharna and Dana Wilson of Detroit, MI, Gregory Wilson of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Robert Kate, Angel Coulter, Jordan Kate, Jason Coulter II, and Justice Coulter; 4 sisters, Lucille Jones, Ruth Mae Tillman, Rosie Barnett of Victoria, TX, Mrytle (Thomas ) Wilson of Detroit, MI; 1 brother, Alvin Hoodye of Bastrop, TX. Along with a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends; Dennis Robinson, Sister Alice Collins, Sister Martha Spears and Jerry Hewitt. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband Blondene Wilson, parents; brothers, Clyde, Allen James, Clarence, James, and Louis Hoodye Jr.; sisters, Cleo Wakefield and Essie Taylor; step-son, George Ralph Wilson.
