JOHNSON, Mr. Michael D. - Age 48, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at St. Luke Medical Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Family hour 12:30PM Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth Ave., with funeral service commencing immediately at 1PM. Dr. Roy I. Greer officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:30PM Thursday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday. Mr. Michael Duane Johnson was born October 31, 1956 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Dwight Harold and Helen (Harewood) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Flint Northern High School, "Class of 1974". He was a former employee of General Motors. Mr. Johnson was currently a resident of Kansas City, MO. He was an Assistant Basketball Coach at Morristown College, where he earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Michael was a published poet and the proprietor of Real Estate Services. Mr. Michael Duane Johnson leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Helen H. Johnson; 4 sisters, Judith L. (Ronald) Light, Cathy E. Johnson, Deborah L. Johnson and Shirley Howard; 2 brothers, Dwight Wesley (Alice Smith) Johnson and Stanley McNeeley; 4 nieces, Tammy, Quanica (Bilal) Furgan, Antionette (Nikiya) Gillard, and Victoria Trahan; 7 nephews, Elwin Dwane, Anthony, Nakian, Chevez, Fabian, Wesley and Wendell; 2 aunts, Mary (James) Avery and Barbara Cole; 2 uncles, William (Jacqueline) Harewood, and Philip (Nancy) Harewood; 11 cousins, Thomas, Charles, Steven, Tracy, Timothy and Karen Cole, Aaron Harewood, Kevin (Angela) and Carol Avery, William (Cheryl) Harewood II, Susan (John) Vinson; brother-in-law, Ronald Light; 21 great nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Harold Johnson, grandparents, William Wesley and Mildred Harewood and Sherman and Mary Francis Johnson; uncle and aunt, John (Berniece) Harewood.
