Mr. Michael Gordan Holbrook

HOLBROOK, Mr. Michael Gordan - Age 62, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, July 18, 2020 at House of Prayer C.O.G.I.C., 1116 E. Humphrey Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Elder James Bowie, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Holbrook will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. On July 23, 1957, Michael Gordan Holbrook was born to James and Rosie Holbrook in Flint, MI. Michael was James and Rosie’s fifth and youngest child, a gift from God. “A TIME TO PLANT AND A TIME TO PLUCK UP THAT WHICH IS PLANTED” Michael was baptised at an early age at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, MI. He attended Flint Community Schools. Michael was a graduate from Southwestern Classical Academy, where he was on the swim team. After graduating in 1975, he was employed by General Motors for almost thirty years. He was known as a great worker that never caused issues. He kept to himself and handled his job well until his retirement in 2008. Michael enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his beloved wife and grandchildren. “A TIME TO LOVE” On May 30, 1981, Michael married Phyllis Ann Gill. Their union lasted until his transition. Together they nurtured and loved the family that they built. He loved his wife dearly, and cared for her through sickness and health. When Phyllis became ill, he proudly became her primary caregiver until his health began to decline. “A TIME TO EMBRACE” Michael leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of thirty-nine years, Phyllis Ann Holbrook, daughter Michelle; three sons, Jonathan (Tammy), Joshua (Jasmin), and Justin Holbrook; ten grandchildren, Mikaiah, Mikayla, Malachi, and Moriah Holbrook, Kailiegh Holbrook, Jazmin (Dion) Reed, Jordan Tuttle, Daniel Cole, Joshua, and Dana Holbrook; three great-grandchildren, Kye’Lynn, Aiyana, and Kamyla Reed; one sister, Dorothy Dunlap Johnson, Grand Prairie, TX; one brother Ronald Holbrook, Redondo Beach, CA; Ten sisters-in-law, Fonda Holbrook, Clio, MI, Valerie Leslie, Janice (Tony) Murphy, Alta (Zack) Smith all of Flint, MI, Delores Holbrook, Lorraine Murphy, Ruby Gill of Grand Blanc, MI, Elizabeth (Willie) Hill, Falkner, MS, Linda (Darren) Parrish, Memphis, TN, and Felicia (James) Jones, Summerville, GA; three brothers-in-law, James (Shawn) Gill, Mark (Susan) Gill of Flint, MI, and Timothy(Delois) Gill of Grand Blanc, MI; two aunts, Leola Wallace, Flint, MI and Goletha Micou, Detroit, MI; one God sister Marcia Teer; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including neighbor and good friend Charles Polk. “A TIME TO RETURN TO GLORY” Michael Gordon Holbrook made his transition on Monday July 6, 2020 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Rosie Holbrook, father and mother-in-law, Dr. James and Ruby Gill Jr, grandparents Mary and Pleas Wallace, Lee Holbrook, Florence Truly, and brothers James and Donald Holbrook. “A TIME OF THANKSGIVING” The family of Michael ( Phyllis) Holbrook and children, would like to offer sincere thanks to Pastor James O. Bowie II and the entire House of Prayer Full Gospel Church of God in Christ family. We are forever grateful to all of our family and special friends who have prayed, given us support, and comfort during this time of loss of a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friends.
