HAWKINS, Mr. Michael - Age 47, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009 at his residence. Family hour 1:30PM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Wednesday. Mr. Hawkins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Michael Ray Hawkins was born April 23,1962 in Monroe, Louisiana, the son of Martha M. Hawkins and Albert Gene Mitchell. Michael relocated to Flint at the early age of 5. He was an excellent Mechanic. One of his famous sayings applied to many senerios, “Its All Gravy Baby”. Michael loved his family, especially his daughter, Mary Alice. He assisted everyone and could never stay mad about anything. Michael protected his big sister, Gloria every chance he got. No one could be around him in an angry state and leave his company still in that agitated position. For he had a gift of uplifting spirits and making frowns turn into smiles. He enjoyed bike riding, dominoes, playing cards, movies, eating and talking smack. Michael had a passion for helping anyone or anything. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Michael Ray Hawkins leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Mary Alice; fiance’, Frances Perez; 4 stepchildren, Tyrone and LaMarco Perez, Ta’Bria McKay and R’Trice McKay; 2 sisters, Gloria (Charles) Naylor and Tasha (James) Hairston; 2 brothers, Anthony and Charles L. Sanders, Jr.; 2 nieces, Aiyannah Sanders and Alexis Johnson; 6 nephews, Pierre’ Moore, Leonard Long, Frank Moore III, Darius Hairston, Frankie Johnson II and Jabron Moss; brother-in-law, Clarles Naylor; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his daughter, Alicia Goff; parents; sister, Towana E. Evans; brother, Christopher Johnson; nephew, Daryl L. Hairston; 2 aunts, Pauline and Janice; and favorite uncle, Roosevelt Upton, Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to Brian’s House Hospice Care, Dr. Danish, Dr. Saeed, Dr. Saha (A.K.A. Dr. HaHa), Frank and Tammy Johnson, Ed, Eric, Charles and Vernice Sanders and everyone who kept the Hawkins family in their prayers during this difficult time.
