CHANEY, Mr. Michael - Age 45, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, January 9, 2010 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Dr. Maurice Pugh Eulogist, Min. Tommie Chaney presiding, Bishop Odis A. Floyd, Host Pastor. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Chaney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Friday. Mr. Michael Anthony Chaney was born April 21, 1964 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Marion and Cillia Chaney. Michael affectionately known as "Boo" loved God, his family and sports. He was a member of Father In Jesus Christ Church. Michael specifically was a huge fan of basketball and considered by many a basketball legend in his own right. "Boo" was a graduate of Flint Southwestern High School "Class of 1982", where he was a three letterman athlete, playing varsity basketball, football and track. He also attended Flint Central High School his junior year and was a member of their 1981 State Championship Basketball Team. After high school, he attended and played basketball at Catonsville College in Maryland. "Boo" attended several All-American Basketball Camps including the famous All-American Five Star Camp, where he won Most Valuable Player Accolades. Mr. Michael Anthony "Boo" Chaney leaves to cherish his memory: father, Marion Chaney; 3 brothers, Steve A. Taylor, Dana Alan Chaney and Matthew Christopher Chaney; 2 sisters, LaQuantus Cardwell and Yashica Neal; 11 nieces, Yuanna, Nadia and Kia Taylor, Nikki Mimms, Pasha Chaney, Cydni Chaney, Raven, Racquel and Deshaundra Cardwell, Gabrielle Williams and Olivia Wheeler; 6 nephews, Antwione Morris, Sir Qron Cardwell, Ronald Cardwell, Jr., Romero Cardwell, Malcolm Neal and Syrus Davis; 2 great-nieces and nephew, Bianca Rivers, Bria Holmes and Bryson Rivers; 8 aunts, Mattie (Chaney) Williams, Marie (Chaney) Thompson, Thelma (Chaney) King, Mary Ann (Chaney) Hicks, Bobbye Jean (Chaney) Manney, Helen (McMullan) Edwards, Ida (McMullan) Spencer and DeLisa (McMullan) Sweeney; uncle, D. Maurice McMullan; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including the Thompson, Kirby, Kendall, Chaney and McMullan families, Tony Young, special friend, Nina Brady, Christine Ashley, Juliet Phillips, Gwen Turner, Maxine Blakesly and cousin, Venita Strong. Mr. Chaney was preceded in death by his mother, Cillia Ruth (McMullan) Chaney, grandparents, Milton and Penny Chaney, Matthew and Emma Lucille McMullan; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to express special thanks to special caregiver, Alice White, Mattie (Chaney) Pearson, Lillian (Chaney) Robinson, Penny (Chaney) Vickers, Dr. Maurice Pugh, Nicole Bradford, cousins, Terry Bennett and Cherone "Cookie" Spencer.
