WILLIAMS, Mrs. Melvina - Age 79, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 at her residence. Family hour 10AM Friday, February 22, 2008 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Henry L. Fuller, Jr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Friday. Mrs. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Melvina Williams was born October 24, 1928 in Crawfordsville, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Israel and Virgil Madison. She married Henry Williams in 1947 and to this union 6 children were born, 5 sons and 1 daughter. In 1955 the family relocated to Flint, MI. Melvina was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Melvina was a faithful dedicated member of many ministries including Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board, part of Mother's Ministry and Kitchen. Mrs. Williams was employed at Prophet Foods for several years. Then she pursued her lifetime dream of owning Williams Home for the Aged and Williams Adult Foster Care. Her hobbies were making Women Church Hats and tending her plants and flowers. Mrs. Melvina Williams leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons, Harman (Beveraly) Williams, Saul (January) Williams both of Flint and Don Williams of Saginaw; daughter, Marilyn (Ernie) Kizer of Holly; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Annie (Carlton) Adams of Germantown, TN; 4 brothers, Rev. Sylvester (Anita) Madison of Toledo, OH, Virgil, Climie and Elder John (Willie Ann) Madison all of Memphis, TN; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends including best friends, Mable Hemingway and Mary Jimerson. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Williams; 2 sons, James Henry and Rev. Carl Williams; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Israel and Virgil Madison; several brothers and sisters. The family would like to express special thanks to nieces, Michelle and Kameron Buckner for the many visits and lovely cards during Mama Mel's battle with Dementia. Dr. Wormack of Visiting Physician, Pinnacle Home Care, Genesys Hospice, Pastor Henry Fuller and Mt. Calvary Baptist Church family and friends. Also special thanks to neighbors, Mrs. Newhouse and Mrs. Boose.
