TODD, Mr. Melvin - Age 57, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Wednesday, June 15, 2005 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Bro Fred Ross officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Wednesday. Mr. Todd will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Melvin Todd was born April 8, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Fred and Mittie Todd. Melvin attended Carter High School in Birmingham, AL. He joined the United States Army and spent 5 years in Paris, France. He attended Culinary Arts School and became a Certified Chef. Melvin's greatest interest was spending time with family and friends and caring for his mother. He enjoyed painting, roofing and landscaping. After 27 years, Melvin married the love of his life, Ernestine, better known to him as "Little Mama" and he was her "Big PaPa." Mr. Melvin Todd leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Ernestine Todd; 5 children, Angela Harris, Quiano Todd and Melvin A. Todd, Jr., all of Atlanta, GA, Shenaya Henderson of Chicago, IL and Meltice Dorsey of Birmingham, AL; 5 step-children, Shaniya Eaddy, Daniel M. Eaddy, Donna L. Jackson, Curtis A. Jackson and Kelley D. Gipson, all of Flint; grandchildren, Juliana, Eniya, Darob, DaShawn, Alexandria, Immanuel, James, Jordan, Marianna, Martwan, Damon, DJ, Brittney, Shimmiejah and Keyana; great-grandchildren, Darob, Jr. and Dequavion; mother, Mittie Todd; sister, Beulah; brother, Fred Todd, Jr.; father and mother in-law, Earnest (Margaret) Whitaker; 3 sisters-in-law, Gloria (John) Conley, Helen Carr and Regina Mosely; brother-in-law, Bradley (Verdie Jean) Whitaker of AR; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Charlene, Joe and Anthony. Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his grandson, DeJuan Harris; father, Fred Todd; and brother, Ronnie Todd. The family would like to express special thanks to the Dotson and Brown families, Brenda, Diane, Valorie Buford and Linda Reese.
