Mr. Melvin Mac Hamilton

HAMILTON, Mr. Melvin Mac - Age 79, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, November 16, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, Pastor Anthony Davis officiating. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Hamilton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00PM-6:00 PM Friday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM. Melvin Mac Hamilton was born September 12, 1945 in Johnson City, TN The son of Gilbert Hamilton and Sarah Wagner Hamilton Melvin was the third child of eight children. He graduated from Langston High School in June of 1965. After graduation he migrated to Flint, MI where he went to work at General Motors Tank Plant, a division of General Motors Corporation in Grand Blanc, MI for 35 years. He was a great Committee Man for 27 of those years for UAW Local #1292. He helped all who needed his help and those who did not want his help, but was appreciated when he helped them get their jobs back. Mel met Linda through her uncle Milton, which he claims was his uncle, and they dated for five years and married on August 21, 1971. They were best friends even though they fussed at each other all the time, but as Crystal would say, they are saying the same exact thing. Mel had a good relationship with his son Melvin because they loved to cook and eat. Crystal acted just like Mel in a lot of ways and everybody always said she looked just like him. Mel was a fun-loving guy whom everyone had a great time with, whether you liked him or not. He could make you laugh when you wanted to cry. When you asked him a question, he gave you an answer you did not want to hear, but you appreciated it. One thing you know about Mel, he was a good supervisor because he always told everybody what to do, no matter where he was. In other words, he was very bossy. But one thing I know, people will listen to him. He loved playing cards with his buddies, not coming home till the wee hours of the morning. He loved going to Soaring Eagle Casino to play Blackjack and the slots. He was good on the Blackjack tables, but he finally found the slots that he liked and he wouldn’t leave until he lost all the money he won, then he was satisfied. Melvin Mac Hamilton leaves to cherish his memories: wife Linda Hamilton; daughter, Crystal Eberhart of McKinney TX; son, Melvin Ripley of Dundalk, MD; 4 sisters, Cora Lee Hamilton, Kathy Charles, Helen Whittington and Nancy Simpson, all of Johnson City, TN; grandsons, Carl “Thomas” Eberhart and Courtney Eberhart; granddaughters, Christine Eberhart of McKinney, TX and Melayna Ripley of Edgewood, MD; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Eberhart of McKinney TX and Noa Ripley of Dundalk, MD; 7 sisters-in-law, Diane Moore, Julie Handley, Mary Handley, Cynthia Handley, Myra Handley, all of Flint, Michelle Nard of Warren, MI and Monique Reynolds of McKinney, TX; 3 brothers-in-law, Luther Moore of Waddell, AZ, Julius Handley and Leon Handley, both of Flint; a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Percy Dunn, Jeff Grass, Betty Johnson, Norman and Nancy Howard and Loretta “Tiny” Goins. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Sarah Wagner Hamilton; brothers, Gilbert Hamilton Jr. and Kenneth Hamilton; sisters, Sally Hamilton and Dorothy “Dot Dot” Hamilton; brothers-in-law, Donnell Charles and Dennis Moore; mother-in-law, Lydia Smiley Handley.
