McQUEEN, Mrs. Meltrina - Age 45, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Eld. Larry Weaver, officiating. Interment Selma, Alabama. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. McQueen will lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Meltrina D. McQueen was born October 15, 1966 in Selma, Alabama, the daughter of Lois Smith and Simon McQueen, Sr. Mrs. McQueen was a resident of Flint, Michigan where she attended Martin Elementary School. Later she moved to Alabama where she attended Westside Junior High and Riley College in Selma, AL. Meltrina was employed with the Palace of Auburn Hills, MI. She enjoyed listening to the “Blues”, playing cards, braiding hair and doing crossword puzzles. Mrs. Meltrina D. McQueen leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Marquita McQueen (Jermaine Beaugard); 2 sons, Willie McQueen (Michelle Thomas) and Cortez Effinger; step-son, Deonte Powell; 4 grandchildren, Martina McQueen, Amar Green, Willie McQueen, Jr. and Marteona McQueen-Beaugard; 3 sisters, Mammie Lee Williams of Bronx, NY, Savannah McQueen (Charles Suggs) and Yolanda Jenkins (George Suggs), all of Flint; 2 brothers, Willie James Smith of New York and Jerry Lewis Smith of Birmingham, AL; 6 nieces, Teosha Perry of Saginaw, MI, Emma Blevins of Alabama, Deborah Morgan of Bronx, NY, Keosha Jenkins of Flint, Crystal Jenkins of Illinois and Bertha of Tennessee; 9 nephews, Leroy Daniels, Jr., Cornelius Suggs, both of Flint, Elijah Morgan of Alabama, Derrick Morgan of New York, Seth Williams of Bronx, NY, Frederick Smith of Georgia, Anthony Smith of Selma, AL and Ryan Threlkeld of Flint; aunt, Edith (Nathan) Keith of New Jersey; a host of cousins including special cousins, Felicia Collins, Brenda Weaver of Flint and Elder Larry Weaver of Grand Rapids, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Carl Bridges, Sherry Harris, Ruby Cobb and Vivian Green. Mrs. McQueen was preceded in death by her parents, Lois Smith and Simon McQueen, Sr.; sisters, Bessie L. Smith, Emma Jean Phillips, Alvira Williams; brothers, Robert McQueen, Simon McQueen; aunt, Willie E. Williams; uncle, Ollie Williams; cousins, Timothy, Darry and Earnest Weaver; nieces, Renee Morgan and Mona Blevins.
