Ms. Melody Bridges

BRIDGES, Ms. Melody - Age 49, passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Lewis Randolph, Pastor, Pastor Danyiel Bridges officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Friday. Ms. Bridges will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Ms. Melody Lynn Bridges was born August 14, 1963 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Annie Ruth Bridges and C. L. Bridges. She was a proud graduate of Beecher High School “Lady Bucs class of 81” as well as Southern University class of 1985 in Baton Rouge, LA with a Bachelor of Science degree. Melody went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2012, at her residence, surrounded by her loving daughters and family. She accepted Christ at an early age; being baptized Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor L. W. Pryor. Later on she moved her membership to New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Otis A. Floyd. At the time of her transition Melody was a faithful member of New Israel M.B.C under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Bridges, where she served as President of the Adult Choir, member of the Usher Board, and Kitchen committee. Melody enjoyed playing all types of sports, but her passion was basketball where she was an instrumental asset in assisting her team “The Lady Bucs” to win the Class B State Championship in 81’. She was awarded a basketball scholarship to Southern University. Melody was a loving and devoted mother; very proud of her daughters and all of their accomplishments. She’s always been sweet spirited, humble, affectionate, kind, honest and faithful throughout her journey with Christ. Melody loved giving hugs and kisses; enticing people with her infectious smile and sense of humor. She was a faithful witness inviting others to be saved and to come fellowship with her church. Ms. Melody Lynn Bridges leaves to cherish her memories: 3 loving daughters, Brianna L. Berry of Flint, Troya A. Berry of Syracuse, NY and Tiara D. Berry of Ypsilanti, MI; father, C. L. Bridges of Flint; 2 sisters, Jacqueline M. Bridges of Flint and Cheryl Radford of Ocean Spring, MS; 2 brothers, Gregory Bridges of Mt. Morris, MI and Brian Bridges (Katie) of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Joyce Leach of Genesee, MI; 12 aunts, Neller Brent, Bonnie Ratcliff, Rosiella (Joe) Bridges, Daisy Bridges, Lula Lewis, Leola Bridges, Katherine Daniels, Ella Elder, Clara Magee, Neva Magee, Bert Magee, and Edrena Magee; 3 uncles, J. L. (Eva Mae) Bridges, Coy (Jacqueline) Bridges, Pastor Daniel (Naomi) Bridges; 3 nieces, Farrah Bridges, Quanetta Waters and Neveah Bridges; 4 nephews, Di’Andre Bridges, Shamar Nesbitt, Ke’Andre Sibley and Brian Bridges, Jr.; 5 great-nieces and nephews; special great-nephew, Ja’Quay Bridges; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Shari Brock, Shelley Sparks, Lesia Thornton, and Katie Bloom; special cousins, James (LuAnn) Bridges, Susan (Mac) Finley, Glenn (Sonya) Bridges, and Helen and Nicole Wickware; father of her children, Troy L. Berry. Ms. Bridges was preceded in death by mother, Annie Ruth Bridges; brother, Calvin Bridges; nephew, Calvin “Popee” Bridges; grandparents, George (Lilly) Magee, Coy (Daisy) Bridges; aunt, Lillie Brown; uncles, J. C. Magee, Willard Magee, Edward Magee and Albert Magee; and her cousin, Chuckie Elder.
