DUNN, Mrs. Melanie - age 50, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Pastor Michael Pettigrew officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Dunn will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Melaine “Mel” Dunn was born April 27, 1964 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mack and Vera Dunn. Melaine passed away at home May 10, 2014. She attended Flint Schools and graduated from Schools of Choice where she then started working Certified Nursing Assistant jobs at nursing homes. She was a driver for several plants and was later employed by General Motors until her health failed. Melaine loved playing cards, bingo, dancing and listening to old school music. Melaine “Mel” Dunn leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Dalisha LaShawn Dunn; 2 sons, Marcello Lynn Dunn and Michael Lynn Beasley II, all of Flint; stepchildren, Monica Summer and Darius Motley; grandchildren, Markell Tate II, Ka’marion Burress, Alexis Ryan, Arkerria Williams, Averon Chandler, Ashanti Miles, Zykerr Wildre and Lillianna Beasley, all of Flint; 2 sisters, Maxine Dunn (George McQueen) of Flint and Verlindia Chambers of Adrian, MI; brothers, Mack Dunn Jr., Maurice Dunn and Eugene Dunn of Minneapolis, MN; aunts, Essie Mae Rankin and Barbara Ann Carroll, both of Flint; sisters-in-law, Joan, Mona and Karen Beasley, all of Flint; brothers-in-law, Rodney Beasley and Calvin Hamilton, both of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including best friends, Shirley Brown and Yvonne McDougal, both of Flint. Melaine “Mel” Dunn was preceded in death by husband, Michael Lynn Beasley; son, Maurice Dunn; mother, Vera Dunn; sister, Joice Mae Howard; uncles, Albert Carroll and Jessie James Dunn; mother-in-law, Nettie Beasley; best friend, Vida Rea.
